I'd like to hear what basket folks prefer and why.

I'm building another course here in North Idaho. This one is going to be ~8,300 feet long, par 63 on ~34 acres.

There will be lots of elevation change with a varied layout. 1-par 5,,,, 7- par 4's, and 9 par 3's. Pro and AM tee boxes. at least two pin positions per hole.

May 1st, 2018 opening date.

I'm leaning towards Mach X baskets.

Thanks

You may want to contact MVP about their Black Hole Portal targets. Some players here can vouch for their quality, and I believe they are the best priced targets on the market, when buying for a full course.

Will they make them in non-black colors?

Another yellow discatcher. Just so much easier to spot on a long par course that changes positions*. I think they're easier to judge range too.

* ... In my local area it is some sort of historic twisted game that none of the tee signs indicate current basket positon. Many extra steps (time) some days.

Makes no difference to me. Happy to help facilitate a course purchase on MVP portal basket which all customers have been very satisfied with.

Mach III is my favorite with the powder-coat option.

Pros:
*Built like a tank
*Classic DG looking target, old school
*Best 'ching' sound IMO
*Number Plate, with ability to customize

Cons:
*Pricey
*Doesn't catch as well as the newest targets, but IMO the new ones (like the Mach X) catch too well.

Yellow disc catcher. Easy to see, solid sturdy baskets.

Thanks for the replies.

I do like the Yellow Discatchers but, I cant see buying 22 of them just for the color. I have some friends who putt hard, probably too hard, plus, my putts hyzer out and I've had lots of center hits from 30-45 feet out that spit out which is always a heartbreaker.

MVP's look good and are top candidates, but the black only for now is a deal killer, need something visible from way out.

I'd be nice to get something American made too, I heard MVP are made overseas,,, correct?

Mach X's are the most consistent/fair catching baskets I've used, although I haven't tried everything out there now. But I know I'm always happy when I go to a course that has them.

Discatchers and Prodigy baskets are my favs. But agreed with earlier comments as the yellow band is easy to spot.

When you have multiple pin positions + long holes: COLOR PLEASE (or at least flags for visibility) and tee signs with a mechanism showing what position the basket is in at the time. Nothing like walking a bunch of long fairways searching for a basket in the woods when you don't know where it is.

The more wooded the course, the more important color becomes, to make baskets "pop out" in the shadows.
The more open the course, the more useful flags are to give an idea of wind direction/speed at that end of the fairway (which can be quite different than on the tee), plus flags make it easier to spot baskets in the distance.

Innova Discatchers are my favorite.

I don't understand the point of these new chain configs that stop blow throughs. Chains are like a basketball backboard. There is a sweet spot but you still can't hit it 100mph and expect it to stay in.

Yea, only black for now, and made in China.
