I played 195 rounds in 2016. How about you?

Not completely sure, but would conservatively guess at least 200. And that's very conservative. I find it funny that some folks who have told me I should post less and play more have probably played fewer rounds than me.

I think I taught a higher number of clinics and ran tournaments more than the total number of rounds played.

We should question, what, for purposes of this discussion, constitutes a round?

If player A plays 50 rounds on an eightteen hole course, and player B plays 100 rounds on a nine hole course, all other variables being equal, did the latter play twice as many?

Valid point. I would say Player B played more rounds, but they played the same amount of disc golf.

I would start by saying a "round" is playing all the holes on a given layout of a course.
That said, if you play 18 holes out of 24, is that not a round?

I suppose you could count holes played to be more accurate, but that's probably overkill.

Some people play more niners because that's what in their area (I'm lookin' at you, Chicago :p). About 1/2 the courses around me are 24 holes. If you graphed the data in this thread, I think you'd get a fairly meaningful bell curve, where, much like course ratings, the outliers become less statistically significant.

Does it matter much until we start giving out prizes or awarding a trophy to the player with the highest claim?

After all, this is just another one of those DGCR "I want to talk about ME" threads, where each poster says something about how much they play, or don't, and there are no discussions---the subsequent posters do the same.

I don't manage to play much, so I'm counting yesterday, even though the cold rain curtailed my round after 13 holes on the 18-hole layout I was playing. Hell, I threw enough throws for a full round. The folks who completed a 27-hole layout on the same course, the day before, can testify against me in court.

my dad, who is in his 80's, insists he plays more and gets better value out of his rounds because he gets in twice as many throws. I know I'll start moving toward his rationale before too long.....

I play every week day at least 2 rounds. Play 3-4 on fridays and 3-4 sat and sunday. So 2x4=8 rounds during the week with about 10 rounds on the weekends= 18 rounds/ week x 52 weeks=936 rounds. Did take a day off for rain now and then so probably 850- 900 rounds this year.
With no wife and kids, it is easy to rack up some rounds.

I'm more of a weekly player. I have 58 listed rounds on here, but that doesn't generally include my league or tournament rounds so my actual total is probably closer to 75 or so. The most days of playing in a row in 2016 for me was three.

I would go into withdrawls if i went three days in a row without slinging some cirlcles. I did go 2 days without playing but i had the flu.

Thinking about it, I would be surprised if even 5% of the members on this site play 500+ rounds a year. That's a lot of rounds, even for someone without the other time-consuming activities like full-time work, kids, and other hobbies. Add to those bad winter weather and lack of daylight, and it gets tougher.

I'm lucky in that I don't get bored playing the same local courses over and over again.

Luckily the weather rarely gets too bad to play here in NC and we play glow during the dark months. Actually get to play more in the dark since the course is usually empty. During the summer it is light til 9:00 or later so the courses stay pretty busy.

Plus, the shorter you throw, the more parts of the course you get to enjoy. A lot of people rarely get to throw from the early parts of the fairway. I do.

25-ish since I started in July, which is pretty common for the group I typically play with.

Let's see
Jan-May---50 rounds, 8 new courses
May-Oct---75 rounds, 43 new courses
Nov-Dec---20 rounds, 0 new courses

So, 145 rounds, 51 new courses
A bit low on rounds for me, usual for new courses

This is why I love safari rounds. It gets you to parts of the course you might never see otherwise.

^^^Using the baskets of an established course, you make up new and distinctly different tee positions.

Hate to ask, but what's a safari round?

It's when you make holes, or an entire layout, not comforming with the actual course. It might be "#2 tee to the #5 basket", or "picnic shelter to #8 basket", or whatever. A refreshing change when you've played a course beyond memorization, a chance to make an easy course harder, or at least long. And not recommended for busy courses.

Me too.

I don't know. Probably like 5 full rounds and maybe another 20 9-hole rounds. I kind of lost the passion for the game this year. Hoping to rekindle it in 2017.
