Watching some FPO footage, it just struck me how large some discs looked in women's hands. I know I prefer to throw smaller diameter midranges b/c they feel similar to my putters and drivers but everything looked like a wide diameter midrange for the ladies. I imagine some of the women have arm length and hand size comparable to the average man and might not be bothered by the size of readily available equipment but generally speaking most women aren't as comparable.

Curious to hear the female perspective on this, would they like to see some smaller diameter discs be made available sort of akin to how a women's basketball is slightly smaller than a man's? I think the putting could be a huge boost if there were putters that felt more like a putter to them instead of a Roc. Or if a little less diameter on drivers could give them a bit more leverage to use.

There aren't nearly enough females on here to get a good survey. But it'll still be interesting to see the responses.

ITT: BroD doesn't sound like a raving lunatic. Should we sticky it?

didn't know that about the women's basketball...

ITT: BroD teaches me something

Re: sticky... no :p

I mean I would imagine it would depend on the woman. I have introduced a couple to the sport who I play ultimate with and they have preferred deeper and larger discs.

this might be absolutely genius. the wnba example is good, and macro discs for example fly like hell.

All I know is that Paige can outdrive me by a factor of about 1.5, so I doubt it's an issue with drivers.

The wimmenz don't seem to putt very well though. Maybe a smaller putter could help?

I know I prefer a lower profile putter, and I've found good reliable ones hard to find. Maybe since these are sponsored pros for a particular brand, and not every one makes a reliable low pro. putter, that has some effect. I don't know just a thought. It seems DD has a great line that seem very female friendly, maybe that's part of Paige's dominance?

How much smaller could you make them before they would slip thru a normal basket?.

Once the money gets real (for both mpo & fpo) ...there will be plenty of women bombers. In a related note, I would guess all those ladies playing tennis who have a mean backhand could probably throw the bajeebas out of a disc.

I've stated for some time now that I'd like the PDGA to lower the minimum diameter from 21.0cm to 20.5cm. Some of us smaller mitted guys might like smaller discs too.

I think it would help some ladies more so with driving, but even more so with kids.

That's weird I always thought the minimum was 20 cm so I was wondering why this hadn't happened yet.

No...?

A basketball is different vs a discni don't get that at all. There are tons of throwable discs for smaller hands but i think a lot of FPO get bad bag building advice from some MPO which is the problem.

Are smaller diameter max wt discs not harder to get up to speed vs large diameter? Also large diameter seem to glide better IMO..?

Larger diameter discs glide better because there's more space for the air to get under and lift. I learned this when I went looking for small diameter mid ranges which are not very popular.

As a person with small hands, I find rim width/angle to be the biggest issue in terms of power/control.

Right. A 2 foot diameter disc with small rim config should be throwable by any FPO adult.

I guess i dont get the point at all unless talking macro mini sized which weigh half as much as normal discs toom

I don't think I get the question. Do smaller discs go further? Aren't all women throwing the same discs? I guess if women are competing in men's divisions a difference could help level the playing field, but I am not sure smaller discs help gain distance.
