Ledgestone 2017

So I have a question, Paul's Near ace where his disc was wedged in the basket, he went and removed it right away. Is that required? If not, let's say he left it there till everyone else that was farther out finished, if someone threw an upshot or putt, that hit his disc and pushed it through. Would it count as an ace?

Probably, more accurately in the Rules thread, so I am moving my response there.

He is not required to remove it prior to someone else throwing. However, a player could ask him to.

If someone should push it through, it clearly would not count as the disc would be seen to go through the basket as opposed to over it, which is required to legally hole out.

http://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf/802-basic-rules-of-play/80205-holing-out

"Basket Targets: In order to hole out, the thrower must release the disc and it must come to rest supported by the chains and/or the inner cylinder (bottom and inside wall) of the tray. It may be additionally supported by the pole. A disc that enters the target below the top of the tray or above the bottom of the chain support is not holed out."

I mean, two qualifies under multiple, and no, I hadn't seen your original post so I guess that one is on me, but I see where you're coming from. I seriously hope they do go back to the two, the golf course is a joke for a top-tier tournament.

I am guessing you mean you are hoping they go back to two courses at Ledgestone in particular, but the MPO at LIS Open was not on the golf course, it was the Lake Eureka temp course.

Several big MPO tournaments have been played on only one course. I didn't think it was a joke at the WACO, Jonesboro Open, Nick Hyde, Konepiste Open, Euro Open, or Utah Open. And Utah Open was on a converted golf course. I don't think it'll be a joke playing one course at Idlewild, the Pittsburgh FDO or at The Vibram either. I get that it's just personal preference to some people, but it's clearly not everyone's.

.
I believe he was referring to that stupid golf course they use at the Memo.

The pro players definitely are going to prefer a single course. One course to learn. It makes it possible to adjust to mistakes you've made round to round. Less moving around etc.

It's also better for commentary. Stats, hole and round comparisons etc.

I think the most salient points pertain to Anthon's acceptance by the pros and commentators, and his demeanor on the course. The guy acts politely. He chats up the rest of the pros, unlike some, and he is amazingly self controlled. Clearly the commentators who know him like him. If it weren't for his history, something he's paid for, he'd be considered one of the most professional players out there.

BTW, Josh was placed on a lead card earlier this season to much derision. Clearly the TD who made that choice knew more about his capability than some of us posters.

"Multiple", meaning more than two. Did you read my post? I said I haven't seen a big MPO event with more than two courses in over a year. My original post stated that the MPO pros voted for no more than two courses, one-round-per-day. Memorial was the only one that deviated, and that was a new format this year. I'll bet that MPO goes back to two for the Memorial next year.

Is the pros voting for one course specific to the DGPT? I was wondering B/C I remember GCC having 3 different courses they played on.

Because he showed lights out that he can control his discs better and more consistently than any other player. If your advertising is, our discs give you control, he's the guy you want reping.

Duh. Why would you want a murderer on your roster?

Innova has every right to sign him if they choose.

As does the people who will choose to no longer support their company based on that decision. As does the people who will begin supporting / strengthen their support of the company based on that decision.

This screenshot from FB also seems to indicate Josh is back on team innova!

Edit: oh god that picture is so large.

Most top pros prefer as few courses as possible due to travel demands and preparation.

Example:
Tournament Ends Sunday and you have a 12 hour drive to the next tour stop. This means arrival is at best mid afternoon Monday.

If you tee off Thursday and have four courses, this gives you just two and a half says to prepare for an event.

A one or two course model for top events will become the norm.

Would you say an FPO rated round of 1000 (in this tournament) required a similar skill set to score a 1000 rated round in the MPO division? Their putting was amazing to watch.

Similar, in that all aspects of the game need to be dialed in really well to have a 1000-rated round.

We could speculate about any remaining small differences, depending on what comparison you are thinking of. Do you mean:
the difference between the courses they played, or
the difference between a 950-ish rated FPO player vs. a 950-ish MPO player, or
some subtle ratings calculation that would be different in a field that averaged 905 vs. 985?

I'm guessing so long as the jokes get reactions like this, they'll continue. They'll stop when they no longer get a reaction (either laughter or offense/annoyance).

You guys are amateurs!

Check out the Ultiworld coverage -

In toppling the world's two best disc golfers this weekend en route to a wire-to-wire victory at the Ledgestone Insurance Open, Josh Anthon didn't do anything terribly flashy. He didn't unleash highlight reel shots, and his longest putt on the weekend was from 50 feet out. Instead, his play could be encapsulated by one word:

Execution.

Posting the results of a tourney he won means he's back on Innova? What?

JP posted this and that is in fact JP's account.

Most manufacturers have secret facebook groups for their team players to communicate and for the company to announce things to their players that they don't want the public to know.

I'm completely convinced that this is a real post and that this implies he is back with Innova.

I didn't look close enough, thought it was just the total tournament results.
