Alas poor MacBeth, we hardly knew ye

Disclaimer 1) I know it's spelled McBeth, it makes the play on words more...pompous? No, that can't be it

Disclaimer 2) I'm either committing the vilest heresy or saving saving the brightest star in DG

Disclaimer 3) I wasn't paying attention to DG until last year so I didn't experience 2012-2015 for all the historical perspective

OK, here we go: McBeth is done. I predict he'll be 1030 rated before he's ever 1050 rated again; if he is ever rated that high again. No DGPT or NT first places the rest of the year and more finishes out of the top 10 than in. I can't tell you how painful it is to type this: Don't waste your Skip Ace picks.

I feel sick and sad and I hope I'm wrong and I hope every last poster tears me to pieces with acerbic wit and irrefutable arguments against. And if anyone mentions marriage or wife, may you be blessed with the peaceful relationship you deserve

Let the flaming begin!
Are you in need of attention, princess?

OP. are you paying attention to Udisc live?? This is where you get black feathers stuck all in your teeth. Mmmmmm crow.

His putt is the biggest delta...and at this point I think he's healed physically from his injuries, but he hasn't proven that he's mentally got it back yet. He has flashes of McB34st brilliance, but in both PDGA and PGA competition it's easy to see the effects of not being 100% confident standing over a putt (even if you're telling the media you are).
I agree. Two elements are missing in this regard. Paul's old back leg wiggle, where he dug in his toe, appeared to give him lazer focus. He still does this, but far less often. The other is his reaction after he misses a putt. Prior to his injury, Paul rarely showed anger after a missed putt, but now his reaction is bordering on Nikko levels of anger.

I'm glad to see he got the win this weekend! Confidence is key.

Some good justice on the timing of this post!!!

Paul crushed it for the W this weekend!

well put sir

To the OP:
you're counting out a guy, who just today, covered 550' feet off the tee and hit a 100'+ uphill jump putt for eagle. Silliness

That is an amazing performance on that hole. However, crushing a single hole like that (or even multiple holes) doesn't get you tourney wins. . .

He got an Eagle on a 900 foot hole.

And both Paul and Jerm had a dropin putt for that Eagle. . insane

Just because I like playing devil's advocate:

  • Eagle grew up in Colorado. I hear they have trees there.

Unless you make the hour plus drive into the mountains regularly, sadly most of our courses don't do much to breed good woods golfers. And learning to play finesse shots at 6500'+ can be a little counter productive.

What Colorado does generally breed is guys who can bomb a disc and throw hyzers.

That said Eagle has great tools to attack the woods, but needs refining compared to a good chunk of 1030+ players.

Reference his texas finishes vs his NT finishes.

Year of the shield for real though this year. Simon will come back around, but Perkins and my boy Colten are going to continue making a splash.

There are more guys playing at "Mcbeth level" than ever before because of Mcbeth pushing them. Eagle spent all winter training in the mountains. So did Simon. Anykne here paybatte tion to social media? Drew Gibson is more fo used than ever and hlbent on pushing for a win. Sexton Wysocki and Koling are always there. Guys like Grady Shue, Kevin Jones, Eric Oakley, Nate Perkins, Garret Gurthie, AJ Risley, Presnell, Devan Owens all seem to not be taljed about but that'll change soon everyone is playing better, training like athletes now. Mcbeth hasn't fallen everyone else has risen up as a result of his play. Its not as easy for him because of himself, now theres a paradoxical conundrum in which to be stuck.

Good. grief man. Do you type with your elbows?

He got an Eagle on a 900 foot hole.

Yeah, technically, because the TD set par at 5 and therefore that is the correct par.

But about 12 other players also got an eagle on that hole.

I really don't see much reason for that hole to have a par of 5 - unless par was set for the Intermediate division.

So it's definitely really great play, but the "eagle" label in this case is not as strong of a case for being the best player in the world as an eagle should be.
