[Discraft] Comet love?

Oh you meant the DGLO ones, not the Glow-Z ones? I figured you meant the glowy ones, because they're probably the ugliest shade of glow plastic I've ever seen :D The DGLO ones were like, a bright crayon green.

I never liked any of the fancy-pants RR or DGLO Comets. They were all way too overstable. I had a signed blue RR one that I just kept long enough to sell, even though back then they were only going for like $50.

For me, the best Comets have always been domey ESP ones.
I was always more of an Ontario Roc guy than anything, and beefy Comets=Ontario Rocs so...

Give me Z Comets or give me death!

They are cranking out max weight stuff these days. That goes for everybody, not just Discraft. It's a bad time to like light discs.

But MVP puts out lots of light discs! Maybe I should switch out my Comets for something they make...

For the record, if I ever say that without laughing while the Comet is still in production, send help. I've been kidnapped.

But for real though - nobody's got any light ones, at all?

I didn't really mean to imply anything by that. At the prices they are charging now, you should be happy with what you get. If you aren't, Discraft should find out.

I didn't take any offense, no worries. When talking to Paul he did say they were working on some new plastic variations, I don't know exactly what that means, so take it how you will. I'm just excited to add another Comet to the collection.

What's that thing ThrowaEnvy is always babbling about...MVP Uplink? I think that's the MVP disc he tried to get everyone in this thread to throw.

I didn't do it or anything, so I have no idea why.

I respect the Ontario Roc, and it's definitely the disc the Comet was trying to copy, but until it's really beat in, it just doesn't do the same things the Comet does...

I don't mind the Z Comets. I still have 2 great ones in my bag along side my ESP one, but I can do so many more magical things with ESP than Z, because it's not fighting back as hard.

Haha it was the Spin, now it's the uplink. I do try to keep the comet thread clean(ish) from my evil gyro pushing ways. :D I appreciate Comet throwers opinions about other wannabe mids.

Psst hey buddy, meet me around the corner..Haha

I just picked up a 170 soft uplink and I'd be happy to tell you how it's a lot like a nicely beat in comet :D

I've thrown Rocs for so long that I do really stupid stuff unless it fights back.

I'm all busted up so my lower body is useless and I'm throwing basically with all arm (which has a torn rotator cuff) which may have ended my Roc throwing days, though.

You might remember; the Z Comet was a Player Cup release one year ('08) that they sold on Sun King and then it went into regular production. I snoozed a little on the Sun King release so the discs I got were 173g and 171g. The 173g was my go-to Comet for a long time, but it got hella beat and I stopped throwing it about five years ago. I put it back in the bag this spring; that silly thing holds a line like nothing going off my one-legged torn rotator cuff crapola throw. The distance is sad, though. There's no real way around that.

I vaguely remember those. 2007 I moved to the sticks outside Detroit for a few years, so I had zero time for disc golf with how far a drive I had for work, and the long hours I was working. I don't think I ever laid hands on one. My throwing stock is original and second run LE ESP, and first production run Z.

Don't feel bad about losing distance, I'm pretty sure you haven't lost as much as I have! The Comet is about the only disc I can still throw pretty much like I used to, and that's only because it has such a low arm speed requirement...

The first step to solving a problem is admitting you have a problem.

I see no problem here. :| If anything, I need some backups. :| :|

Edit: For the record, the peach-ish '18 in the top left, the grellow '17 in the top right and the blue '21 right below grellow are the ones that have made the bag. The rest are just me being a hoarder.

Rando comment: The last regular-production run Z Comet I bought was from last year and I gave it to my daughter. I'm going to need to feel that one up when we throw this weekend because I'm sitting here with this ESP swirl Comet I just got and the Z Metallic Comet I got a couple of months ago, and they feel the same in the hand to me. The Z has a (for lack of a better term) textured feel that is different from the Z's from 2008-2012 that I usually throw. Going from Z to ESP used to give me a dramatically different feel, but really all of the MJ runs that are Z plastic ('17, '20, '21) don't really feel like Z to me in the hand. I'll need to check the stock run from '21 to see if that's just the plastic they use on these specialty runs, or if Z just has a different grip now. I've been throwing old stock for so long I really wouldn't know.

Why is top left positioned there? Seems weird with the empty space...there's better ways to present 10 discs:)

So, I'm mad at my Comets.

I was throwing a round today at a somewhat technical course, to force myself to do some line shaping with the new discs I've been adding to my bag, to counter my distance loss. Problem is the Comets (especially my ESP one) were flying so nice, I only threw anything else on two drives the whole round! :D :p

Stupid Comets...Making me throw crazy turnover lines and stuff...How dare they!

I have an ESP in the bag that I almost never throw; today my daughter declared a Comet hole (in our version of disc golf if you take the tee you can declare any hole a Comet hole and everyone has to drive a Comet except my other daughter who defiantly refuses to throw Comets and we let get away with throwing a Super Stingray) and parked a Z Comet in the middle of the fairway. I thought about your posts so I gave the ESP a twirl off the tee; it looked money but then drifted right and didn't fight back so I was off the fairway. I was lining up my second shot trying to find a gap when I yelled "THIS IS WHY NOBODY LIKES SKA!" Everyone just sorta stared at me and I never explained myself.

My daughter did queue up some Reel Big Fish on the way home, though. :\

Three Putt made me feel compelled to share my own addiction, as I now feel that this is a safe space:

Hello, my name is Stetz, and I have a Comet problem. At one point, when I stopped playing around 2012, I had around 20 - I gave away, and am kicking myself in the ass for it, several PFN Z's, and a few Elite-X's. I'll get back to that number soon though!

The first house my wife and I owned ('01-'04) was hours away from a course and had a line of big blue spruce on the property line with a big open patch of right of way for the railroad on the other side. I used to set up portables at the end of the spruce trees and pretend like I had a two-hole course, and when I'd screw up I'd leave discs up in the trees. I had a bunch of Comets and HD Hawks I wasn't using so I threw them. Sometimes when I was mowing the wind would have blown the discs down and I'd grind them up in the mower. I really have no estimate on how many Comets I either hit with a mower or left stuck up in the spruce trees when we moved.

What happened to those pink Zs you got off me a while back?

The picture was just recent additions; all of theses Comets are still around:

One of those pink Z's is in the middle on the right. My daughter stole the other one. :| The last time I saw it, it was in her boyfriends bag.
