Are 150’ aces really a deal?

So is an ace on a really short hole really any more special than a 150' throw in on a 400' hole?

I have actually given people that I play with a hard time when they sink a 169' ace by telling them "nice putt".

I get that any throw in from the tee pad is technically an ace but how excited do people get from one of those versus maybe a 300' ace?

I have only been playing for a little over three years and have yet to hit an ace because I guess I'm not that good but if I hit one on a really short hole I'm not sure I'd be overly stoked about it.

Flame on.

You would feel different if you hit one.

Probably some truth there for sure.

We have a little pitch and putt course near my house and the holes are all about 200' ish. I've hit metal a bunch but nothing has stuck.

I don't police how other people feel. If someone gets a 150' ace and they're happy, then I'm happy too on their behalf.

edit: My most recent ace was just a little over 180'. Did I whoop and holler and act like I'm the queen of the world? Nope. Did I smile really big and take a photo for posterity? Sure did. However, if someone else hit the same ace and was whooping and hollering, I'd laugh and smile and give them a high five. Different strokes for different folks, ya know?

And what I bolded is the difference.

No one's looking at that stuff when the numbers get counted at the end, are they?

There is a hole on my local course that's a wide open 160'. I've plastered that basket with nothing sticking. When one finally does stay? Dam right that's an ace and I'm gonna be stoked. To each their own though.

I played in an ace race and hit 3 aces....hell no they dont count.

Grown-up aces are over 250.

I've hit some really fun and exciting second and third throws, from as close as 100' around obstacles, or as far as 250' in the open. They're nice. But the 1's on the scorecards are just so ...elegant looking, and sometimes profitable. Heck, I've cashed a 90 foot ace once for $70. Yep, I'll take it.

The day a person hits a short ace in an organized event and declines their ace pool winnings, I'll be impressed.

I've declined ace pool winnings, not because of the length of the throws but because I was traveling and playing in doubles events one time only. That said, I never pay for ace funds if given the option. The "1" is already more than the deserved reward for what is usually a slightly errant throw. The last thing I want in return for a sheepish accident is money.

I have been very fortunate in my short disc golf career, to have hit 8 Aces. My first was in a Discraft Ace Race, from around 140'.
I didn't win the tournament, but the person that did, did not buy into the Ace Pot......I did buy into the Ace Pot, so I won CASH, he won plastic. My longest was Hole 13 at North Georgia Canopy Tours, 315', slightly downhill (for those that know the course, it is the hole after the Chicken Coop hole).

ALL 8 of my Ace's felt awesome!! None of my Aces were made from inside Circle 2, so I don't believe they count as "putts". Semantics. maybe......but a Hole-in-One from the tee box, feels pretty good, regardless of the length of the hole.

Darn, almost broke my arm, patting myself on the back.......once an Aceless player finally hits one, from any length, they will understand...

For the record, I have a few 250' throw ins for a 2, and they felt pretty awesome as well, but they don't count as a Hole-in-One, do they......

I've had aces on tone poles, object courses, alternative baskets, and have seriously abused chains and metal from the tee. Yet I have no basket ace (not even a cubby fer chris' sakes), and look how long I've been playing.

I has a sad. *sob*
