[MVP] MVP Ion?

I'm going to speculate (think wishfully) that they will come out with a mid, and perhaps a baseline Ion prior to a driver. The overmold design would be much more difficult with a low profile driver, and the effects would not be as dramatic and drivers, with their wider wings, already have most their weight on the outside. They may just make a traditional driver that molds up perfectly and consistently in nice plastic. We'll see though...I don't know what those guys got going on in the lab...

I've been putting since they came out without changing to another putter. I still use the Soft as my primary putter and keep the Medium in there for headwind and more stable putts.

I would really like a stiffer Soft that shares the same flight characteristics but isn't as birttle as the Mediums. It just seems that my Softs get a little bent and too gummy when I bring them outside, especially in Texas heat.

Baseline Ions with the rubber overmold would be schweeeet

Yup, throwing mine since then, and still throwing them. I just got a medium, and I'm glad to see you say it's more stable. This one isn't broken after all. I was wondering why, with the exact same throw, the medium always goes 15-20 ft to the left of my pile of softs.

I want a stiffer soft, with the same flight as the soft soft. As for Texas heat making softs gummy: Yes... but it's a really bouncy gummy. On occasion, I'll hit the pole and bounce as if there were no chains.

for me it's more of a preference for feel, but i have noticed some bad roll aways with the softs as of late. when it cools down soon, im sure the softs will be money

I wonder if they can put an inner ring of the overmold plastic inside the wings of the champ-style plastic on a driver.

Brother Dave
that is some hi-grade product development. Kind of a grippy rip pad....you're on to sumpin' there.

Oh, and I've decided that this disc is so Billy bad ass that for now on I will only type it in red font like it's what Jesus said in the King James Bible. Long live the mighty Ion!

I had a long chat with Chad last night and he managed to get me even more excited about MVPs future. There's a good reason why he's being tight lipped...But he promised he will be dropping hints in the near future. I just can't say enough about how smart these guys are. Before they take one step on an idea, they map out 5 contingency plans for every step of the process to ensure that the end product will be perfect. They plan for every conceivable problem so when the one they didn't expect arises they are at full capacity to focus on solving it rather than being up to their necks in unforeseen issues. I don't know what the R&D process is like at the other disc companies, but I'm almost 100% certain that it is not as thorough, planned out, or scientific as what is going on at MVP.

Also, Ions are still gaining popularity now long after the initial hype of being something new has waned. I also notice that most of us who started throwing them long ago are still throwing them. Yesterday I had a grown man come up and sincerely thank me for introducing him to the Ion in June. He's playing better than ever and has in turn introduced the Ion to another half dozen guys who are now Ionophiles as well.

is glow plastic a possiblity in the future

I'm sure it's a possibility...It's just an additive to the plastic. Like everything else however, MVP won't do it until they can do it better than everything else out there!

If they need someone to try out how what ever their new thing is holds up and handles in the Finnish winter, tell them to send a couple to me. =)

I would have to say that a Texas Winter is the harshest of the three, we actually get to play year round so we the new plastic will see the most wear and tear. Send all MVP pastic down south

Hey Brotherdave. Yeah.. Alzalea was a great tourney. I just received my box of Ions today. I might sit and ponder in drool for a couple weeks on which ones I'm going to keep.

The stamp came out great!! - Just wanted to thank MVP for putting on the contest and meshing the design entry of mine and Zach's. I look forward to what MVP has next up their sleeve. The plastic and design are in a class by themselves .

Later,

Mike

I do like the new stamp it looks great on the disc. Something about how the overmold frames out the stamp it just looks pleasing to the eye. I havent thrown an ION since the first run. I think I will pick up a couple mediums to try out. Any Idea of when the stamp will hit the market?
