[Gateway] Gateway Wizard

Oh no. There was no reason for that at all. PWs are great if you like stiff, OS, and flat. I have just gotten used to putting the G25s -- same one has been in my putting slot for over 2 years now.

I got a great deal, so not having to take out a loan or anything. I had been watching it for a while and decided to jump on it. I might have if not for your recent endorsement, but it certainly didn't dissuade me.

Super impressed with the team at Gateway. I called them up and described the flex and feel of what I was looking for in a putterand the rep (can't remember his name) searched through the stacks and described a few different runs. Overall a very pleasant experience and now I'm confident I'm getting 5 Very similar wizards.

Came across a Facebook post where someone is selling an SBR wizard. Does anyone have any info on this? My best guess is special blend rubber, but I've never seen that before and can't find anything online.

There are SO many types of Wizards. I picked up a Lunar - which is a swirly gray like pro-ish plastic, almost slick with any wetness, its nice, but not my favorite for a putter

Just received a couple of the new run of stiff glow Wizards. Some of the best feeling Wizards in a long time. Stiffer than any Fossil I've felt (or PWP). Not high shouldered.

They fly like a Wizard. I found my grey fossil fuels to be more OS than the average Wizard. I'd say the as far as the profile goes, they aren't quite as low profile as the fossil I have. Like I said though, definitely not high shouldered. Similarly, they fossil aren't quite as stiff as the glows. They are amazingly stiff (not like g9i though), it will be interesting to see how they break in. The grip is slicker than the fossil, not as gritty. I really like it. Again, it will be interesting to see how the grip changes. I've thrown and putted with mine, I plan to break them in like that way. At some point I could see myself using them only for putting. I can post pictures if you'd like.

Just a quick reminder that discs for sale need to be posted in...the Marketplace.

Thanks.

Some new Special Blends have popped up( or at least new to me), any knowledge about these would be helpful:
SB17
SB18
SB19
SB22
SB30

I have an SB18 and SB22. SB22 has a velvety feel to it and grips nice. Sb18 is a little more chalky feeling, but not much difference. Both have about SS flex to them. Neither is more overstable than average, and they both have low profile shoulders. One of the gateway reps told me the blends from sb17-SB22 are all fairly similar flex wise, but the SB30 is different, and more like RFF.

Man, it would be awesome if Gateway would post this kind of info somewhere, even if it was on a forum or Facebook group, so people had access to this info.

I agree. I don't know why they run so many different special blends in the first place. They already had a reputation for inconsistent plastic before SB's were produced, and they still intentionally made it more difficult for anyone that is particular about their putters.

Putting with wizards is like a marriage. It was easy to fall in love with them, but to stay committed you have to work at it and deal with some BS every now and again. Don't tell my wife I said that. :D

It's all true, but it's not really that big of a deal. I have a lot of wizards and they all fly pretty much the same with a couple of outliers of course. I can just go into the gateway store and feel what they are running anytime I want, so it's nice. But, If you call them and describe the disc you are trying to match, they do a decent job of getting you what you want if you'll take the trouble to do it.

I'm one of the people that sees all the variation in their plastics as a good thing because there is something for everyone. I have no idea what all the blends are like but I don't care to because I can always find something I like.

^ samesies, but without the luxury of going to the shop. Call and ask. Or go to your local shop and feel them up. I have 4 Wizards in my bag. No two are the same blend. They all feel pretty similar. And mostly all start around (AROUND) the same stability.

This is why I usually just putt/throw white Soft Wizards. Usually very similar.

This seems to be the most consistent thing I've seen from Gateway so far. At least for special blends, discs of the same color seem to be from the same blend. For example, on infinite discs, all the red and red-pink discs or sb18, and all the blue-purple are SB22.

Is innova much/any better? I've had 4 different teebirds, they all fly very different. Including 2 that were the sameplastic, run, and weight.
It's still a good disc, they all are! But now I know to go look at plh in person when I buy a new one. Not unlike talking directly with someone from gateway , who will be very happy to help you find what you want.

Good point. And at least with Gateway, the consistency in stability is there, it's just a difference in feel and flexibility. I wouldn't use them if they were inconsistent in flight.
