From your statement, and jswoods1984 after you, it sounds like it is perhaps a common event for Gateway discs to send products that are not as ordered. Maybe even an intentional business practice?
If you are satisfied with these conditions, fine. But,when I am engaging in a transaction with a manufacturer, I believe in trading value for value. I state what I want, and I am willing to pay the full retail cost for it. If they fail to fulfill their end of the agreement, and I have to contact them again in order to get the product that I paid for, I will lose confidence in them as a business.
Suppose the transaction went something like this:
I communicate with a manufacturer to get a particular product. When I receive the product, I send payment which is composed of a mixture of a little bit of real cash, and the balance of the rest of the cost with Monopoly money. When the manufacturer receives this, they will have to contact me to get the rest of the payment in real money. My response could be, "Oh, okay. Since you are calling me out on it, I will send you the rest of the money that you expected to get. And, as a bonus to you, keep the Monopoly money!"
They are not going to think much of me as a customer. And, if this happens multiple times, I expect they will want nothing to do with me.
I want the correct product delivered in a timely manner, without having to go through some runaround due to their negligence. And, it is little consolation to me that I end up with a handful of free discs that I never wanted.
