The Inevitable 2022 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

MVP adding sponsored players when they can't even manage their production is a terrible way to run a business. How about before you bother with marketing dollars you allow me to pay you money for an Entropy or three?

OTB (and I'm certain others as well) have had Entropies available for pre-order for a month or so and slated to ship late January. Blame James for winning. If Paul takes his sixth, MVP doesn't have to make the super-obvious business decision to capitalize on the most exciting moment of the year and extend/delay their regular production cycles on other molds.

I don't love it either, but they're picking back up. I have a new CN Wave and Hokom Crave in addition to a pre-order for the aforementioned Entropies.

Hmmmm....MVP has been one of the best companies that we have dealt with throughout the pandemic. A couple times, they have been the only manufacturer that could meet our tournament requests and have been good to deal with and delivered what was promised.

I'm sure they are stand up guys, I'm not implying they owe me anything. All I am saying is that when you don't have a product to sell marketing money is wasted.

I also don't buy the "all the production went into Envys" line. MVP stock wasn't keeping up with demand for basically the entire pandemic. Envy was already a hot seller, they should have been pumping them out at a good clip pre shot. I did hear rumors of equipment issues, but again if you have marketing dollars to sponsor kids maybe throw that money at producing discs you can sell for profit.

Even in Texas we had lots of MVP, especially compared to other Michigan producers -

"March 23, 2020 -- Stay-at-home order issued
Whitmer issued the first stay-at-home order on March 23. This order limited the reasons people could leave their homes.

Under the order, Michiganders could leave home to shop or work if their work was deemed essential. The order banned in-person work that is not necessary to sustain or protect life."

It felt like you could only get MVP around here. And the amount of Conrad Envys on the shelves is stupid. I joked with friends that our transient population will be eating meals out of flipped over Conrad Envys in a few years.

I've been thinking about where everyone is landing and some out there predictions.
Definitely Ricky to DD and KJ to Innova.
Prodigy is bleeding their top pros so it wouldn't surprise me if Dickerson moved as well. Possibly discraft.
Fpo has been quite so I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Kona moves. If DD is looking to make a splash with singing Rick I could see them grabbing Kona as well.

Do I get credit for calling Kona to DD a week ago?

Kona to Dynamic Discs! Wow, based on their hype I thought it would be Cat, but good for Kona. Big move for her.

Kona was a few steps after the top FPO in the Innova Team. . Now she´s the top FPO player at DD, much more fun i guess

already two "kona discs" out on DDs site

Strange, I would say Valerie is a better player and has more potential as a player. Only explenation is a "social media presence", that she is hte main gun in FPO for DD.

Forgot abot Valerie :wall:

Kona is one point lower i rating...but one spot higher ine Udiscs World ranking, , ,so they are SUPER close.

I see Kona om DD front page with two "kona discs" . . don´t see Val.

MJ called it. Probably fun to watch us wildly speculate while he knew all along.

Well, the article/teaser saying multiple Elite Series wins did take her out of the discussion, which I believe made most ruled her out as the big FPO signing. But after several seamingly confident voices the last days stated that it wasn't correctly worded, Kona was thrown out as one main favourite in the end.

But if I also had known the contract was "$500k over 4 years + incentives for social media and tournament placements", with $500k over 4 years was precisely what Kristin Tattar got, I still would not have had Kona as in my top picks.

But I guess that DD put a high value in that she is pretty big when it comes to social media.

Weird that discgolfer don´t really want to talk contrakts and money. .. but when Lat64 gave Kristin "$500k over 4 years" many FPO players seams to use THAT exakt number to make their own deals.
Hokom said that she talked about that number in her new talks with MVP.

So much "she got that number,,,,,i want that number" talk. . .but Kristin is much higher ranked and have won more than Kona. . was Kristins to low, or is Konas to high?

Macie Velediaz just a couple points off, too. Kona could easily be the 3rd highest ranked FPO player on the "team" at times.

Well, if you watched "The Upshot" where they discussed contracts etc. social media presence and stuff like that is more and more starting to become a big part of what the companies will value when it comes to offering contracts. Earlier it was more "provision based" and was mostly about winning and placing high. Now that still matter of course, but you can still get good contracts even if you are lower down on the ladder if you are good at other things that the companies can get value out of.

Well, I see Nikko was liberated from his deal with Westside, guess they got the money to sign Ricky back now. But this brings up some interesting issues:

1. What is a contract really worth? Ask Westside. I thought it was a 3 year deal but I over looked the "maybe part".

2. Does anyones word really mean anything in disc golf. Ask Ricky. Yeah, I know it was 5 year deal, "SURPRISE!!!!!".....

3. How many wins at the Pro Tour/NT level does it take not to get tossed in the ditch
when a hotter babe comes along? More than Nikko did apparently. The magic number must be 2.......

4. If sales dip should Paul sell the Mclaren? Nope, drive it like you stole it.

Some recommendations:

1. Ricky get all your money on day 1.
2. Nikko, get all your money on day 1.
3. Paul, try that car with racing fuel...........
4. Westside, who's hot enough to dump Ricky?

I wonder if the bag Kona assists with will be designed with female golfers in mind? That could potentially be a huge seller for Dynamic.

I say that because Salomon makes specific women's fit hydration vests that account for a different torso shape. I think at this point other manufacturers in the trail/ultra community do as well.
