The Inevitable 2022 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

James Conrad has signed on with Shaffer Sports Management.

So it isn't the same plastic Discraft uses?

(Insert puke emoji)

I'll get flamed by the fanboys and McBeth groupies but I just don't like Discraft plastic.

it's the same polyvinyl base but it's not exactly the same.

I don't understand how people can get so upset about plastic

Hailey King announced a sponsorship with Dryv Bags. (Grip related, not a new disc bag sponsor)

Does this company only get him good contracts, or will they make social media for him to build his brand?

I think they are mainly focused on contracts, future opportunities, and finances, but I don't know for sure.

I hope the latter. Conrad seems like a great guy, and I like him and all, but I don't get the impression that marketing himself, or building a brand comes very naturally to him.

Not saying he isn't sharp, or doesn't get it. I think it's more that his personality isn't, "Hey, look what I'm doing. "

Not that they were born with it, but Paige and Paul both seem quite comfortable with parlaying their success on the course into discs, other merch, projects.

Eagle, Simon, and even KJ seem closer to Paige and Paul. Dickerson and Calvin seem more James.

Cat and Ricky fall somewhere in between.

Just my take.

I don't think James Conrad needs to do any brand-building at all. The shot heard round the world speaks for itself.

Not to mention a US Championship, a unique style, and copious lead card coverage.

Depends on his goals. He's done enough to get support to play disc golf for a living. OTOH, If he wants to maximize his income potential he needs to do more. Of course I don't think that's his personality. He's not a Uli or Simon.

I agree with that ranking wholeheartedly.

I grabbed a 2020 USDGC Champion P Model US and a Tennessee Dyed PA4 from the Dickerson collection.

Pretty excited, though I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them.

Got these in the mail yesterday.

The PmUS is unthrown, so I basically got a discounted new disc with a bit of a story.

The PA4 is well used and inked, which is exactly what I wanted. Wasn't sure I wanted to bag it, but it might be too cool not to bag. I'll definitely at least field test it.

He has the best brand of them all. Humble nice guy that is approachable and isn't trying to sell you something.

Works great with the fans, not the greatest for sponsors.

Curious, is this personal expert or your take from watching tournaments/videos?
