[Discraft] Official Discraft ZONE Thread

I was referring to the old esp since that's all I've experienced

But I also don't like the flx plastic, too gummy

You might have to join the rest of the non-Zone throwers and just find a similar disc from a company that has plastic that agrees with you.

I've never been a fan of Discraft plastics and dropped my Zones for an A2.

Agree on slick new ESP plastic. Even my ESP Flx Zone isnt much better. Crystal Flx is worse.

Just for grip, I would say Soft, then Rubber blend.

IMO DC doesnt have a great premium plastic for grip any more than they have a great plastic for soft landings in general.

Prodigy distortion and a5 in 400 plastic… plenty of grip

Also curious about the latest FLX ESP.

Ive read that its gummier than the previous run, but OTB rates them about the same.

Im more curious if the grip is any better. That would get me to buy another Zone.

Apparently I lost my OG Glo Z Zone. Which plastic combo is the most OS currently? Have a beat up ESP and putter line but need something with more beef

Just find any puddle topped Z or ESP and you're probably not finding much more OS than that. I'd suspect there's at least one Ledgestone release from the last few years that's more OS, but idk which is which since there's like 5+ a year.

I have a couple of Zs and a couple of ESPs, and just picked up a nearly new Ledgestone Metallic Z FLX. My other 4 are all pretty straight with mild fade when thrown forehand out to about 200 feet. That Ledgestone has quite a bit more reliable fade for me. I would imagine it's probably similar to the Get Freaky Zones, but I haven't picked one of those up yet.

I think I've finally settled on just using the Zone as my primary approach disc.

There are several similar discs that I prefer on a backhand but for my forehand the Zone just clicks and I can deal with it on a backhand.

Played a round with it yesterday after not having it in the bag for a while and it was pretty much like I had it in the bag all along because I really didn't miss a beat with it.

I know there is some skepticism about the new Zone OS that is coming out but I may end up getting one as a compliment to the Zone. I like the Zone on a flat shot or a hyzer but always found it just didn't fight out of an anhyzer as much as I would like. I'm guessing the Zone OS will solve that issue.

I did something similar as I also felt like the Zone just wasn't quite it for my BH, but I couldn't beat it FH. I was actually splitting the approaches with a CG Toro and my JB Zone but I finally put my Z Flx Zone back into the bag and it's like it never left. 3 approaches with it, and they were probably a combined 10 ft from the pins. I've also seen it's very hard to throw FH flex approaches with a normal Zone, but I'm definitely going to try a Zone OS.

No offense to the Kite (which I've never thrown) but c'mon, the Kite thread has the last post on the discs page....7 hours ago.

Zones rule and Z-flx is the best Zone plastic. Prove me wrong

Bergs rule too.

Anyone have suggestions for a Zone replacement in grippy / flexible plastic?

To be clear, the Zone is the best Zone I've ever thrown. Love the mold, feel and flight, I'm just over DCs plastics.

A K1 Soft Zone would be ideal. I want the Jarn to be a Zone, but the Jarn thread is pretty convinced its a brick, not a Zone.

Have you tried any FLX plastics? I have a Ledgestone Metallic Z FLX Zone that's really soft and grippy.

Ive got a couple Get Freaky Z FLX Zones. Probably the best flexibility, but I dont think the grip is great on these.

I've also tried the ESP FLX.

The best grip is from soft imo, which doesnt have the flex.

Z flx works great for me so I can't help you, Goldilocks.

Didnt stop you from posting though.

OTB has the metal flake Z FLX run marked as less stiff than the Get Freaky Cryztal FLX.

I might try these, but if anyone has suggestions for zone clones in good plastic plz let me know.

It's not a brick. K3s are very OS and you can find some K1s that are too, but many K1 softs are just like kinda beefy Zone beefiness.

They are faster, however, and also a little deeper and sharper.

Many Prodigy platics are great, and the A2 could work, but again also faster than the Zone.

BT Soft Harps might work, they're abnormally overstable for baseline discs, or even just Harps, but they won't go as far as Zones and the hand feel is quite different.

You could try a GStar Gator, again it's faster.

Clash discs plastic is usually pretty soft and grippy, and they have some approach discs, but I haven't tried them.

Thanks!

Before Zones I threw frontline-x Mortars which I loved, but I only have one left and the original mold is gone. Before that I threw med. and soft Harps.

I'll pick up a K1 Soft Jarn. I'd pick up an A2 if someone can recommend a flexible prodigy plastic. OTB has all the plastics (incl. 300 Soft) marked pretty stiff.

@Moose33 - have you tried the Lone Star Artemis? I havent tried anything from Lone Star, but Bravo plastic seems worth trying.

Thanks!

I tried one from someone who is still on their team a couple of weeks ago. It's not bad, similar to the early run Jarn or A3. It's got some beef but not quite what I would want personally.

I've got Austin Hannum 300S A2s that are in that slot for me, if you like it a little straighter the regular run one might be good for you.

Thanks!

200 and 300 soft are similar to BT Medium stiffness, I'd say. 400 is often similar to K1 and usually even softer, but never close to K1 Soft
