The Inevitable 2024 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

Ok, Keiti Tätte will stay with Latitude 64 after all. I wrote earlier that the only team left where she could end up was the Sense Team, but I didn't see her fit into their description for that team:

*Our final team to announce is our up-and-coming players, the Sense Team! This team comprises the Latitude 64 team players finishing school or just starting to play disc golf full-time but have not won the PDGA World Championships*

Glad to see that she will continue with Latitude though :)

Lykke Lorentzen with a multi-year deal

Thought Space Athletics and I will partner up for the next four years. I wanted to find a sponsor I could commit to for the rest of my career, and TSA met all my criteria. I'm a businesswoman as much as an athlete, and TSA values both. They value hard work as much as results, and that's what I'm here for! I really wanted this partnership, and I've loved their discs since they came out in 2020. Those who know me know I care a lot about aesthetics, and TSA is a unique brand with new stamps for EVERY type of plastic and mold! If that's not pure JOY, then what is?? I will also partner with Infinite Discs for 2024 and have my own signature discs for you guys to buy! I am still deciding which one, and I can't wait to get stateside to test out discs and choose which one I want. Do you have any guesses on which one I end up with? There are many other things in the works that I will keep you guys updated on as the season progresses.Thank you SO MUCH for all the support. I truly appreciate it!! See you in 2024!

Finns have mandatory military service at some point I think- maybe Antilla is taking the year off from dg.
I used to follow the professional StarCraft scene and it was always wild to hear about teens and early 20 year olds having to retire to serve in the military

Is every TSA contract linked with Infinite, if so why?

Pure speculation: probably not necessarily linked but only so many companies willing to work mixed bag sponsorships.

Personally I think Infinite could be a sponsorship powerhouse in the upcoming years. The ability to pretty much throw whatever you want, and it'd be easy to work a couple Infinite molds into the bag considering they're all Innova and OG DM variations. They also get a lot of their molds ran in the more boutique Innova plastics if you're wanting a hot selling your series disc. They're also at a huge advantage being a retailer of other brands because people can consolidate their shopping. In theory their sponsored players aren't just promoting the Infinite line of discs themselves but also as a site to buy anybody's plastic.

No idea how the contracts are structured and how comparable the money is to other companies, but they've got several upsides working in their favor.

The other thing I've wondered about: Infinite was quick to slide into Innova's good graces as they broke up with Discmania. I'd hope everybody learned from that situation, but it'd be silly to not have a fairly detailed contract laying out very specific terms to their manufacturing agreement. If Infinite keeps growing will they experience any kind of bottleneck on Innova's side of things?

Good idea by Lykke to jump on this lull in new sponsor announcements. If Gannon or similar had just announced early this week, all the others would get lost in the background. It'd be thoughtful for Gannon and maybe Eagle to wait until the 'lesser' deals are announced so they can have 15 minutes without getting big-putted.

Pro NOT switching sponsor update. Zach Arlinghaus will stay with Discraft. Glad to see the local kid get another year with a major sponsor. He had a decent year last year with his best finish probably a #12 at the Preserve. He's currently #41 with a 1018 rating.

[edited to correct his ranking]

So do we think Eagle and Gannon going to get those +$1.000.000 deals? But how many deals at that level can Discgolf afford?
Sure Paul made Discraft relevant again and Simon made MVP a BIG push. . but you have to sell ALOT of disc to get that money back.
Kristin for $125000 must be a bargin for Trilogy, if i had to guess i think she sells more discs than Ricky

I Wonder if Gannon and Eagle is the last +$1.000.000 contracts we will see in the next few years
I see longer term contracts for players to get $1,000,000 + contracts, Possibly Paul going out to kill master's division/Master's tour as soon as old enough to do so, due in part to how crowded Open gets.

Everyone avoids Prodigy from here on out, newer pros are told for a good while from older pros to keep away from Prodigy and new owners.
TBH Parker Welck's success validates Prodigy's moneyball strategy of recruiting young guns then letting them walk after they break through with and start asking for more money.

It was good to see Parker Welck do well. I'm not sure how his win validates this strategy. Did he move alot of discs? Right now Prodigy seems like the Montreal Expos of the disc golf game. Develop players and watch them go elsewhere.
