Do you have the option to use caddies while playing disc golf? And if you do have the option, do you use it? I have never heard of this before, but someone else just started talking about it.

And I don't mean having your wife/gf tag along. I'm talking about paying someone toe carry your bag and help you find discs and towel them off.

Caddies in DG are typically a friend and pretty rare to see except in the final round of the bigger tourneys. I think Feldberg says he gives his caddie 10% of his winning.

One of my personalities will always be nice and caddy for the other personality. I call it "the buddy system."

Mostly my tips to my caddy personality are things such as: "Look both ways before crossing the road." -or- "I before E except after C (but not always cuz this is America, foo'.)"

I'm thinking of asking my girlfriend to caddy my first solo tournament this weekend. It may or may not go over well. Wish me luck.

As long as the proposed compensation is appropriate, what do you have to worry about?

ive done it for some of my competing brethren. in fact they took my pic at the last tourney:

I have never used a caddy and my wife insists on staying home when I play so I don't think I will have her assistance anytime soon. I would consider caddying for a big name pro in a big tourney under a few conditions:
1) give me tips and pointers throughout the round (tell me why you are doing something 'cause I wanna learn)
2) I would accept some merch as a form of payment...nothing too extravagant to win me over.

I played in a tournament where this guys 14 year old son was his caddy. I thought it was a little weird, but I didn't say anything.

I've only used a caddy once in a tournament. I won the advanced division in that tournament too. It definitely saves energy when you are playing for 12-16 hours over the course of a two-day tournament.

You, as the service provider, should just be glad that you're able to find gainful employment. Who makes those kinds of demands out of an employer? Besides, the caddy is supposed to be able to offer their customer advice, not the other way around....who would want someone as a caddy that makes all kinds of unreasonable demands?
You would really expect someone to be concerned with coaching you up while playing in a competetive tournament?
You obviously have a very inflated sense of self worth;)

I wish they had caddies at the mall on days when I take my girlfriend shopping. How great would that be? Give a couple of kids a couple of bucks to carry around your bags...malls could set up little 'caddy areas' outside of stores so you could actually walk into stores without carrying ungodly amounts of bags....

Winners use caddies....and tip them very well I'm assuming???

I almost never play a PDGA tournament without a caddie. It's just too much fun to have a friend around to egg you on after bad shots and celebrate with after great shots. It's just gravy to have them carry the bag. My last tournament I won $80 in merch and got my caddie whatever disc they wanted and a nice golf towel that clips on their dg bag.

I am still looking for a caddie for this Sunday at the ATL Open.

"Hey, where you going with those clubs, punk?!"

"Mr. Gilmore I'm your caddy!"

"Oh, I'm sorry about that."

One day I shall have a caddy... one day.

I caddied for my good buddy Steve Rico at the USDGC last year... what an experience. At first I was simply carrying his bag and rooting him on... but as the weekend progressed I started giving him advice on shots and discussing options.

Including one hole (16) where he wanted to throw an anhyzer off the tee, but there was a funky cross wind and most people were being unsuccessful with it. I talked him into going straight at it (much riskier, but easier)... and he parked it. Here's the video of the shot:

He sure did park it. I was there that day as well, except I was following the lead group.
