Weight loss disc golf

I'm a Weight Watchers guy and have been going to meetings for 3.4 years. It is 11ish dollars a week with insurance or 13ish without I think. It has been worth it and I highly recommend it to any one struggling. The accountability of being "Weighed In" is what broke me of binging and needing massive servings all the time.

Oh, and I can see my feet again when I look down, LOL.

Nice congrats!!! I look forward to the day I see my meat not my feet.

My company is doing a weight loss challenge. the top 2 teams(8-10 people per team) with the highest % of weight lost in 3 months win an I-Pad for each team member! I weighed in today @ 294lbs.
I'm gonna play at least 2-3 rounds/week.
I'm gonna walk, do push-ups & sit-ups & ride the stationary bike.
I'm gonna stop eating fast food & watch the calories, fat & sodium (i'm on cholesterol & BP meds).
I was wondering; what other exercises can i do on my own that will help me improve my game as well as lose weight?

get a bike and bike everywhere....i'm a skinny guy but i lost 40 pounds by not drinking/biking and eating everything under the sun.

I have a bike but it's kinda cold here in Indiana to ride it this week. i used to ride it to work- few miles a day.when it warms up i plan on doing that.
i wonder how weightlifting would affect my game?

Honestly just eat healthy and exercise as much as you have time for, the pounds will fly off.

I'm necro bumping it cuz maybe someone might be interested in hearing it or get you inspired.

I recently ( last 7-8 weeks or so) lost 22 pounds and I'm still losing more weight. I'm a big guy (6-2 and built like a truck) I was 261.3 and this morning I was 239.4 pounds. I did it cutting calories to 1500-1800 a day, not eating fast food, drinking lots of water and only water, hiking once a week, and riding my bike a half hour a day. Before the weight loss my back and my right knee hurt all the time so I actually stopped throwing BH to avoid the pain. I really hadn't thrown a drive since then (a lot of SuperClass rounds) but today I went and just threw in a field BH and my distance has improved and my knee doesn't hurt anymore. I'm also feeling better about myself, and my depression and anxiety have just about melted away.

Hope this helps someone else! Go throw! :)

Weight loss and disc golf? lol.. don't even get me started. Game over...I've won. Story will come out later this year. #micdrop

At my heaviest, I weighed 415. I incorporated a lot of physical activity along with disc golf to now be slightly under 400. However, that's not the best part. The best part is the inches that I've lost all around. Shirts feel a little loose but my pants feel like I'm sagging. My intermediate goal is 375, with an ultimate goal of 350. Then I will continue to make goals until I can get to around 250.

In addition to healthier eating habits, I found one main concept key in my weight loss. Find your BMI for your weight and slowly decrease your intake of calories. I started with a drop of 25-30 calories per day and that is helping me currently. Also, don't forget to change your activity level when calculating because the more active you are, the more calories that you'll need to burn. If you don't, your body might force you to compensate for those calories by potentially overeating. When you become more active, you might be able to cut an extra 10-20 calories from your intake and DRINK LOTS OF WATER.

Other activities that I do are Badminton, Walking to the local store instead of taking the car or bus, my garage is a sauna so I do short 10 minute bursts of cleaning and organizing it for 30-45 minutes, Aqua Aerobics/swimming, walking the dog: not the yo-yo trick or any activity that makes you walk.

I highly recommend the myfitnesspal app for tracking calories intake for any interested in losing weight. Half the time just reading and realize what you are eating does the trick.

Good luck to all those losing weight.

I would agree with this as well. Started realizing how out of shape I was when I started playing disc golf more. Started tracking calories and lost 40 lbs. I haven't kept it all off and have been fluctuating +/-5 lbs. or so but the -5 always comes when I start tracking again and the +5 when I get lazy with that. I also haven't drank soda but maybe once a month for a few years and it is amazing how many calories that cuts out. Drinking water and coffee(if you need the caffeine like I do) only makes it so much easier if people are struggling to hit their calorie limits.

weight loss is all about calories... exercise has less to do with it than you may think...

Yep all you need is to burn more than you take in, create that deficit and watch the pounds fly off. Plenty of calculators online that tell you how many calories to eat to maintain or lose weight and you can go from there. I know some people have benefited from Adkins or similar plans but you can literally eat anything and lose weight as the article shows. I've always found the diet plans that have the 'trick or 'secret' to be ridiculous false advertising. There's no secret to it, you don't need to stop eating carbs or whatever just have to watch calories cuz if you're not paying attention it adds up.

Yep that's a great app and the first thing I got at the beginning. Highly recommend as well!

It's all about what you eat.

Not even how much you eat, but what you eat!

Played about a year, throwing all the time in my field...no weight loss.
Stopped eating carbs (wheat) and dropped 15 in a little over a month.

It's all about the fuel...

Disc golf, water, and walking away from the table hungry. I found this to be my best recipe too lose weight. It's all easy except eating two pieces of pizza instead of four.

I'm down around 80lbs since I started following the primal blueprint a few years ago and its really one of the easiest things to follow once you wrap you mind around it. http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-101

Fortunately, disc golf fits in perfectly with the exercise routine laid out in it (lots of walking).
