i work at outdoor world and have notice that starfires rarely sell. i always recommend for a player that has been playing for a while but wants to try fh and some newbies with sports backgrounds again fh. it is stable enough to hide some flaws but not so much to hide BIG flaws. might be a region thing as well, i just dont know. not many threads on starfires either.

I've never thrown one--just their sister the SL. I don't know if I'd consider them too stable, personally, but I can see where you're coming from. Just not an age old favorite like the Teebird. People can probably get about as much distance out of a Teebird if they're experienced with that. The Starfire or SL might not gain them that much and the Teebird's been out longer.

Starfires are great discs. People who don't know discs think since they aren't as fast as everything else they are no good, and players who are in the know prefer PD's, teebirds, ect. I think its a great disc, and would be in the bag if I was sponsored by innova. I just prefer other discs.

It's one of those discs, where every position it could possibly hold in a bag, is probably already being held by something better/more versatile. It's definitely still a solid disc though.

I have 2 Starfires in the bag. My Champ is my go-to sidearm disc and my Star is what I use for those long RHBH hyzer-bombs. I dont know why folks dont like the Starfire. I love mine and they work for me: that's all that matters.

I have a Champ Starfire in my bag although I 'll admit it gets rare use. I usually pull it out when it gets super windy.

i got my first ace with a champ starfire. it was a short hole (180') but i'll take it.
i dyed it with the zig zag man.

This is what it has become for me...

i know up here a lot of women throw them. and its val jenkins' favorite disc

It's Val's signature disc as well.

maybe because they are a 'tweener' driver, in between fairways and big D drivers.

This is probably why most people don't look at them.

My problem with them is that they fly best BH for me in Pro plastic...but they take a serious beating in pro plastic....I tried champ plastic and it just wasn't the same disc...sometimes that happens between pro and champ.

...nowadays I might like the champ for FH. But a starfire backhand has no use for me anymore. I've got it covered with something else in every situation I can think of. My Viking, Avenger SS, Valkyrie have it all in the bag.

But I will admit one of my first favorite drivers was a pro starfire. I still have it but it's WICKED understable.

A Pro Starfire is actually an SL. Why Innova makes things more complicated than they need to be is anyone's guess.

PD > starfire

Very similar.

But in all honestly alot of discs overlap a starfire in most bags.

I throw firebirds and teebirds. I have no need for a disc that is in between those stabilities

An ugly yellow Star Starfire is my FH disc of choice. I'd feel naked without it in my bag. I love it exactly for the same reasons the OP listed.
