Disc bag alternative ideas?

I've been shopping for a disc bag, but I don't really like the selections out there... all the nylon and giant logos stamped on the side is just not my thing. Does anyone have creative alternatives (maybe something you found in your garage) that would hold about 10 discs? I saw another post about surplus gas mask bags, but my local Army store does not have them.

A soft side cooler?

Or maybe a nice ladie's handbag? The kind that a lady could slug someone with. :p

You can cover the logos when you accessorize your bag. Who cares what it looks like? I used to use a small duffle bag(very floppy), but it wasn't comfortable and only had the one big pocket to throw my keys, wallet, drink, phone, and discs. I still use it, but its only for my 5 glow discs now. I also use another small duffle bag thats more rigid to store discs, but its really uncomfortable for any use during play. A backpack is probably the best way to go though other than a dedicated discgolf bag.

I went with a good ol' regular backpack for over a year, until the strain from the discs split the zipper.

If your goal is to spend the least $ possible, you could just use a plastic shopping bag.

Buy some disc dividers up to enough to seperate 12 discs or so. Then take those to the store and see what bookbags will fit them snuggly. At that youll have a bookbag that will hold your discs while still seperating them and standing up straight for about 20 bucks. I imagine any bookbag will wear out in time from the stress, but my brother n law uses one and its lasted well over a year so far.

walmart

Walmart has a bag in its sports section that is also a hydration pak and it's front pocket is half open so to say, i have the older version now for two plus years it's starting to go but i like this style because i play with it on my back and it's kinda like a quiver with quick fire access to my discs, holds a good amount of discs. if i can find a pic of it i'll post.

I say go to your local grocery store and buy groceries......then go home and put up those groceries.....you should have a couple new bags then...... and it's saving the planet......;)

My bro-in-law in Philly uses the bag the clerk put his discs in when he bought them at Dick's. The only problem is those plastic handles will start ripping and the ground could put some holes in the bottom. When I started out, I used an old soft lunch box/cooler that had a plastic box thingy inside. It worked great as when I got home from playing, I just pulled out the plastic tray and washed it out. No more dirt inside. My bro-in-law down here in VA is using it now. Also an old bookbag should work just fine.

That lunch box thingy is a "California Innovations". i don't know if that will help, but it worked really well. It's about the size of a starter bag, holds 8-9 discs, has a zipper pocket on the front, closes with velcro, and even came with a shoulder strap. I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 9.99 when my wife bought it 5 or 6 years ago, but I could be wrong.

old backpack. I've been using the same Timberland backpack I had in college since I started playing more seriously in 2002. It's been abused like crazy and dragged through hundreds of rounds on dozens of courses over the past seven years... still doing great. The main zippers broke 5 years ago, but because it only zips halfway down, this hasn't been a problem -- discs still fit perfectly for up to 14-15 discs, a nalgene and a towel. Small pocket zippers work fine and hold keys, cell phone, pencils, etc...

When Gorilla Boy releases his backpack, I'm thinking of going with that. But no idea when that will be... Figure after all these years eventually I'll be due for a "real" bag...

I do use a triangle sling backpack for carrying just around 7-8 discs. It works ok but you have to make sure you zip it up because the disc slide out if you lay it dowm. I looked over and over again for a bag and finally decided on a disc player bag. The logo is not real bad and it holds up to 17 disc's comfortably. I like it and it cost around 40 bucks. Plenty of pockets and a bottle holder and it is not a huge bag either.

Make a statement and go buy a "green" shopping bag for 98 cents at Wal-Mart or any grocery or pharmacy that sells them. They seem sturdy and earth-friendly.

this is what i did at first, old lands end backpack from HS/College held about 10 discs ok, but got a fade tourney bag for xmas and wouldn't go back ever...

I've used a $7 backpack with lots of success. I've also thought that one of those baby diaper bags would work well. I'm sure you could find both really cheap at a garage sale.
