Review by rayoflight in course Olive Baptist Disc Golf Course

3.00 star(s) Decent Little Course Behind a Church -Two tees per basket for beginner and advanced players, though even the advanced tees aren't too hard. -Good baskets, good tees, good signs. -The course goes in a circle around the baseball field, so you can park by the church, go around the field, and end up...

Review by rayoflight in course Central Park

4.00 star(s) Long Course in a Beautiful Park -Lots of room to throw. It's really refreshing having a few bomber holes with 700+ feet so that you can air out your distance drivers. -Multiple pin positions on an 18 hole course means you could play the same course multiple times and get a different experience...

Review by rayoflight in course Valentine DGC

1.00 star(s) Nice park, but not for disc golf The park is very nice. The mowed front section of the park is nicely maintained, and brave hikers can follow the disc golf course around the back side of the park for a walk through the woods (only recommended if you have long pants). It's a nice park for people...

Review by rayoflight in course Village Greens Park

3.50 star(s) Good Course for Beginner/Intermediate Players -Easy course to navigate. -Convenient location in Denver. -Variety of shot shapes. -Very accessible for beginners. -Very few trees or other obstacles, so mandos are used to avoid every shot being a hyzer. -Lots of gnats and mosquitos once the sun...

Review by rayoflight in course Beaver Ranch - Main

5.00 star(s) Well Maintained, Fun Course, Friendly Atmosphere -Mountain scenery. -Clear navigation with ample signage. -Plenty of challenge if you play the long tees. -Good for all skill levels because you have 3 baskets per hole, and you're not likely to lose a disc even if you shank it. -The rough is...

    [Latitude] Lat64 Fuse

Max weight Opto Fuses (180g) are a thing of beauty. That extra mass doesn't seem to change the speed at which the disc starts to turn, but it makes the disc turn over more slowly once it is traveling fast enough to turn. That's really nice for an understable mid, since it gives you a lot more...

    [Putters] Flippy throwing putters (KC?)

I would just stick with one of the softer plastics if you want to beat it into a turnover disc. R-Pro is perfect for that because it's a plastic that initially beats in fairly quickly, but then after a certain point seems like it doesn't get much flippier even as it accumulates a lot more visual...

    <150' approach shots

If you're throwing directly at the basket, keep your wrist above your elbow to ensure that you're throwing nose-up. Alternatively you can just throw a hyzer at it if you have the room, since that shot is consistent and easy to range.

    [Dynamic] Fairway Setup Replacements

Yeah, it's pretty much the same disc. The only difference is that you can get them in different plastics. A Champion or Star Teebird will stay a bit overstable for a long time, but an Opto Explorer will beat in and fly straighter after a month or two. I consider this a big advantage for the...

    [Discraft] Sting

Still not as flippy as the Franklin Albatross/Sparrow.

    [Mids] Streamline Runway

Gotta hop on that OS mid gravy train. Clearly people are buying these discs if every company is rushing to make one, but I gotta wonder if Streamline is a little late to the party. I'm interested to watch some reviews of the Runway, but I can't imagine myself buying one since I just got an OS...

    [MVP] Catalyst

Well it helped me throw more nose-down, but that's mostly because the Catalyst forced me to adopt a slightly different grip for my drivers, which I ended up using on all my other drivers too. I haven't thrown many overmold drivers to compare the Catalyst to, though. I suppose that could also...

    [MVP] Catalyst

The Catalyst definitely flies much more overstable if you throw it nose-up. The dome basically catches air and slows the disc down very quickly if you throw it nose-up, so it acts more overstable and doesn't fly nearly as far. You need to make sure none of the underside of that dome is catching...

[Drivers] Infinite Discs Slab - Super OS Driver

I think my Champion Ape is overstable enough for me, but thanks for offering, Infinite Discs.

    [MVP] Catalyst

I would place the Catalyst somewhere between the Sheriff and the Captain, but I don't throw as far as you so YMMV.

    [Recommend] Straight-ish fairway suggestions?

At that distance, an Escape might be more straight out of the box, but if you can take the time to beat up a Convict a little bit it might be the straightest fairway driver in DD's stable for your arm speed. Both of them should fall between the FD and PD for you, but the Escape will be a little...

    [Question] Mid ranges and putters

If you bag a Buzzz and a Roc3 you could try the Trilogy equivalents of those same discs, the Compass and the Emac Truth. Or you could hold onto the midranges you have and try some mids that fill different slots, for instance an Anvil for a more overstable mid and a Fuse for a more understable...

[Mids] What a glut of OS mids we are seeing hit the market

Personally I like to throw putters backhand and mids forehand, if given the choice. I still find room for an Anvil and a Slammer in my bag, because I prefer to throw them on different shots. I'm sure that's more down to my personal preference than any difference in what the discs are actually...

    [Dynamic] Dynamic Discs: SLAMMER

My classic blend Slammer beat in to the point where it doesn't really do what I want it to do anymore. If I throw an overstable approach disc on a little flick anhyzer, I want it to fight out of that anhyzer, and my Slammer doesn't do that anymore unless I go easy on it. It's gotten to the point...
