What would be the longest Axiom distance driver in their line-up? I'm looking for one that I can hyzer-flip for distance.
Mayhem for sure. It's got a great feel and can straight bomb on golf lines.

After some throwing this weekend, I'm going to reaffirm putting the Tern on my list. Specifically the star Tern. My god is this thing long. I have a 175g that can be massacred for damn near 500' of S curve distance.
In max weight, star Terns seem to have enough beef to not totally flip over. They will take a hard, hyzer release and respond well with big, glidey bombs.
I took a long break from the Tern, but I'm back onto them lately. I forgot how utterly long the Tern is.
I don't throw as far as you, so I suggest for the noodle-armed among us to try the Tern in lighter weights. Same great Tern flight, though maybe not for that 500' distance.
So would you say for a shorter 300'+ player the Sword might be more friendly? I was wondering about a Sail too..

Find the right Echo Star Tern. Even better than Star somehow.
Has never happened to me.i remember that Terns are always awesome if you're a previous tern thrower and you revisit it. but in my experience its a fleeting thing because after a while you're reminded as to what you don't like about terns.
Star Terns (when new) are the pinnacle of bombers. But they have a shelf life and can get unpredictable and its hard to let them go, thats where you can get into trouble.
once a star tern has lost its stability you have to retire it to trick shot duties or else you'll end up losing strokes.

Echo star terns (when still stable) are one of the best discs to do distance hyzers on long dogleg shots because they hyzerflip and will glide out and finish mellow even further than a distance driver.
Honestly, what got me off Terns in the first place was the introduction of the Shryke. I put a Shryke in the bag and never looked back. Terns were just a hair flippier and less consistent for me. The Shryke did a better job of covering the understable long driver slot in my bag than a Tern did.
Shrykes will take a little more arm and aren't quite as flippy as Terns.
Agree with this, and will add this: in conjunction with the 150-class thread, a 150-class (or even lighter) Pro Shryke is awesome for those of us with more noodle-ish arms. Lightweight Terns are also great, and it may just be user preference in deciding which to use. I am really liking my Pro Shryke.
I was also toying around with a 169 biofuzion Freedom. That thing is flippier than my 160 star Tern. The Freedom needed a STEEP (damn near vertical) hyzer release to have any chance of a decent flight. I nailed it well once, and it went about 420'. All things considered, the Tern is a MUCH better understable disc than the Freedom. Despite being slower, it glides better and simply flies much further. Freedoms are good for one long bomb in about 10 tries.
I feel about the Freedom the way you (Twmccoy) feel about the Renegade: I loathe it. The Freedom is not only disgustingly unreliable in flight, but it was poorly molded, and one might get one that has a high PLH and is relatively stable, then one that that is so flippy understable out of the box that it's no good for anything but a "throller".
I'm a wee bit surprised that you're not getting better control out of your Terns. Unless you're at the range just throwing them as hard as you can without regard to where they might end up. I don't throw as far as you do, but the only time I have real problems with the Terns (I have a 157g Champion and a number of Star Terns in the 160s) is when the wind is swirling and unpredictable.
..... It (Freedom) literally serves no purpose....
With the Renegade the flight numbers on the disc are horribly off, and the disc is simply a poorly engineered piece of junk. I wanted something in the realm of a Wraith when I tried the Renegade. Not even close....
.... Terns ride the wind better than any disc I've probably ever seen.
IMO the Freedom was created to be a long distance driver with 'no effort' and 'easy distance' for noodle armed DGers. One of the reasons I hate it is because they really hyped it up when it was coming out, and the disc absolutely did not live up to the hype, to the point I felt outright lied to.
Yes, the Renegade numbers are off, as many Dynamic Discs discs are off (Trespass is notable). The Renegade is nowhere near a Wraith, but is on the other side of the stability spectrum. I always like the Renegades okay, and my BioFuzion Renegade is a nice disc. More noodle-armed persons like myself will like the Renegade better than power throwers like yourself.
And IMHO the Shrykes will give the Terns a run for that title of 'best ride-the-wind disc'. Mysteres are nice in that department, as well...
