I throw a 169 star valkyrie as my main distance driver and am thinking of getting something a little faster. For reference I average 300 with the valk. The innova web page shows the beast to be a little faster with a little more glide. I've thrown a new 164 champ beast that I found way more overstable than my valk and also more overstable than my 174 riptide. I'm hoping that was just an odd disc. I'm might get a 165ish star beast but don't want a pig. Any thoughts?

Could be since the Beast is a speed 10. It'll take more snap and power to get it to fly like the numbers say. Valk is my choice, too. Faster doesn't always mean farther....Valks fly a long way, I'm pushing 350 and am looking to get more.

Stick with the Valkyrie. Don't get me wrong, the Beast is a great disc, I have a Star and Champ Beast that I really like, but I'd take the DX Valkyrie over the Beast any day.

The Beast will be overstable next to the Valk when new.

When it's givin just a bit of seasoning that Beast will make your Valk look like an Aviar....not really, just love the beast...

I throw a 166 and it's my 2nd longest disc thrown with a hyzer flip next to my wraith....

It will also fill a role as an anyhzer disc once you get it beat.

Give it some time Young Skywalker, you will be impressed.

Plus, watch some advice...

Because I am sure when you asked about the Beast you wanted it's Discraft equivalent or some bs snarky comment about your screen name...

Play disc golf, look on here for people that care, and blow off the teenage wankers.

No worries, I appreciate all comments. The reason I was thinking of the beast is because innovas web page shows shows the same turn and fade between the two discs.

I have a slightly beat 173 Champion Beast that I use regularly. This is a versatile disc now that it is beat. I mainly use it for bomb hyzer flips. I can also put it on a bomb anhyzer line that won't come back. I also have a much more beat 170 Champion Valkyrie. I tend to use this in pretty much the same way as the beast, but not for as "beastly" situations. I use it for the smoother and tighter precision hyzer flips and annys. I just got a new DX Valk but haven't thrown it yet.

Useful advice, don't listen to the Michigan boys about discrap. Valk is better than beast, but not optimal at your range. Try getting a Teebird, Eagle and or a Viking out to the very far end of their range, also keep a firebird handy. These beautiful discs will keep you busy for a long time. But whatever you do, don't listen to the discrap fanboy brigade, those discs will stunt your growth as a man trying to learn this game. They only make you rely on discs designed to give you more at the end of your throw only to forsake how you got there. Also, never forget that midrange is the cornerstone of any good game. So, bone up on the Roc, Gator, Panther, and those good approach discs that are named Pig, XD, Rhyno and Classic Roc. Putters are subjective, I prefer a skeeter, and you may prefer anything from an Aero to a shark. Aero is a good starting point.

I've thrown a new 175 dx orc and found it too overstable.

Yo - different plastic - different weight - I'm telling you this will not be overstable for you and it will be enough disc to take you to the next level.

i dont want to get into a discraft vs innova debate, because i dont want to destroy the point of this thread, ohh and we know who would win....but discraft has alot of good discs that will improve anybodys game, people just need to give them a chance

the flash is between a valk and a beast IMO thats why i posted it

Then just say that then for cristo's sake...

I would say the Flash is more between an Orc and a Beast, but I won't split hairs...

It's like saying on a Roc thread...uhhh, Throw a buzzz...or on a Buzzz thread, throw a Roc...

C'mon man....if it's not worth typing the extra sentence to begin with, go download some porn.

i was trying to post and my show came back from commerical so i just hit enter lol

I would actually say step backwards, up in speed. The beast is quite understable at high speeds, try out a wildcat at about 170 weight. People hate to hear it, but sometimes it's needed to go down before you can move up. I used to use a beast for long anhyzers and hyzer flips. It used to be the slowest disc I threw, but I got smart and have moved down to where the fastest I throw is a surge, and most I throw is valk speeds (crush, flick, teebird)

Also try out a teebird if you haven't already. A lot of people still use teebirds for distance competitions.
