Blake's bag......and anyone else who wants to post.

After looking through this thread, I decided to trim the fat and concentrate on the basics.

Drivers:
167g DX Valk - distance/long turnovers
172g DX Valk - long anhyzers I need to flex back
171 DX TeeBird - main driver
172(3?) 11x KC Pro TeeBird - slight headwinds
165g 11x KC Prop Banshee - whenever I need an overstable driver (low ceilings, wind, etc..)
169g DX Viper - used more for a very overstable mid when the Roc won't do

Mids:
180g Special Blend Roc - for reliable left finish/when I'm worried about trees
180g DX Roc (newer) - most midrange shots
180g DX Roc (beat) - finesse/short turnovers

Putters:
172g Champ Aviar - putting
175g Star Aviar - short drives

I feel like I have most bases covered. The only thing I can see as an overlap would be the Viper/Banshee, but I know when I want to throw both.

Any criticisms are welcome.

Looks fairly balanced (as far as I can see) like you said, the banshee and viper overlap some. If you're deadset on keeping both be my guest but for the shots you want to use a viper, try the banshee too, vice-versa for banshee shots and trying the viper. Maybe you'll find you dont need both, maybe you'll find you need both

I've finally had the chance to really play again since it's been nice out, and after today here's what I have in there. As always, it's not set in stone and will probably change frequently.

175 SS Wizard - putting
175 Medium Wizard - driving and approaching
175 Soft Wizard - backup for above two
175 E Wizard - overstable approach
180 S Element - understable mid
180 E Element - stable to understable mid
173 S Element-X - stable mid (hopefully will knock out the Elements)
180 E Element-X - slightly overstable mid
175 S Demon - super overstable (manly forehand approach)
171 S Blaze - overstable mid/fairway driver (beating in)
173 E Blaze - overstable mid/fairway driver
170 S Sabre FX - fairway driver, not used much, I want to beat it in
175 QJLS - fairway/control driver
174 Orion LS - stable to understable driver
170-172 X Tracker - fighting for same spot as Orion
171 Z Avenger - overstable driver
171 S Illusion - fighting for same spot as Avenger
170 E Spirit - fighting with Avenger and Illusion
173 S Spirit - most overstable driver
168 S Hybrid - don't know yet, perhaps overstable fairway driver that's longer than the Blaze

Yep, it's definitely too many discs, but I have fun playing.

Hey Blake, I was wondering if you could give me any advice on what's in my bag so far. I have shortened my bag since my last post and I have room for 1-2 more discs. What should I fill it with/what am I missing?

Edit: Perhaps a little more background info would help. I've only been playing for about 3-4 months (1 summer) and have found that the lighter discs suit my body type/playing style better. My putts max out at around 200ish, my Spider hasn't passed 250ish and my drivers max out around 280-290ish. I was thinking of either adding in a Gator for short hard lefts, a Teebird to fill in the gap between the Spider and drivers, or another putter.

Here's my setup:

Beast PL, 163 - Distance driver
Firebird DX, 150 - Hyzers
Dragon DX, 150 - Anhyzers/right turns
Spider DX, 171 - Multi-purpose midrange
Aviar P&A DX, 172 - Putter

Thanks :)

things to consider:

1) a slower control driver.
2) another spider (possibly in champ plastic) so that you can carry 1 newer and 1 broken in.

Here is my bag for the year. I carry more discs than I need but I like having 2 discs for the molds I throw most in my bag. Does it look like I have any overlap or is there anything I might want to add?

2 Star Wraiths, 167 and 170- Ones for distance and the other is for long hyzers until it gets a little beat in
2 Star Tls, both 170- Straight to slight turnovers
CE Eagle 170- Hyzers
Champ Firebird, 175- Overstable, Utility, Get out of trouble shots
X-XS 165- Big turnovers and the occasional roller
175 SB Orc- Longer hyzers, skip shots, wind, I find myself throwing this one very infrequently and i may take it out eventually

180 KC Roc- Overstable, Wind
1 new 180 DX Roc- just put it in to start breaking it in
1 newish 180 DX Roc- straight shots, thrown more than any disc except my putter
1 used 180 DX Roc- backup, straight to turnover
1 beat 180 DX Roc- turnover

2 175 KC Aviars- almost all approach shots under 250, money for shorts hyzer upshots, windy putts
2 175 Aviar putter- I can putt with either one, one is newer for short straight shots, the other is real beat for turnovers

I don't see changing anything over the course of the year except maybe taking the Orc out. I don't have any right now but I plan on getting a few DX Wraiths for wide open distance and DX Teebirds to experiment with after reading Blake's glowing reccomendation of them. I may also add a DX stingray because I find it easy to roll than the XS

My goal for the spring now is to get more comfortable playing in tournements, consistency, learning a sidearm shot, and of course to become a better putter.

Here's my bag now. It's changed over the last 15 days quite a bit. I've trimmed/lost/demoted/promoted etc... This is fun.

1 Star TL Tye dye (my driver when i need to hit the fairway less than 280)
1 roadrunner Champ (my goto distance driver over 280)
1 Sidewinder Champ (potentially my side armer for distance)
1 Valkyrie Champion (Awsome disc, fast and long... i just need practice)
2 leopards DX (great disc, do it all) one goes right and one newer is straight
1 roc (gets tons of use, I even putt with it some) DX
1 Aviar Champion putter

Practice squad looking for an opportunity
1 very used cyclone (this guy goes where I tell him... similar distance to Sabre .... 280ish)
1 Sabre (I can turn this one right but it's just a bit shorter than others so far)
2 Archangel DX (in and out of my starting lineup.. Out right now)
1 XL (not sure about this one yet but has promise)
1 beast DX (no luck getting consistency)
1 Pro Tee Bird L (backup incase i lose or damage my #1 guy)
1 quarter K (cant throw it)
1 Starfire SL Star (cant wait till I learn this one)
1 Stingray DX (need to go right or glide? This is my guy)
1 Tee Bird X 149 gram (no use for it)

Considering Buying: an Element to compliment the Roc. Maybe a Classic Roc, a SS wizard although my Aviar is very very useful. A second Road Runner for practice, Maybe to buy an orc also?

Advice/comments are always welcome. I know I dont have an overstable driver. That's next.

Sup-

My bag,

Distance

172 Z Crush x 2-straight
175 Champ Orc(doesn't come out often, but probably should)
169 Champ firebird-overstable
171 Champ sidewinder

Midrange

170 Z Buzz(learning)-may replace the leapard
172 Champ leopard
171 Pro d Drone

Putters

(don't have the weights, but 170's)
Aero x2
Aviar(for windy days)
Juju(for those easy to miss shots-no rolling/bouncing away)

Anyone have suggestions-I have many more discs-but these are what I am currently playing with.

Id say what blake is most likely to answer (and I definately agree)
you need a good versitle or stable fairway driver, Cyclones, Teebirds and Sabres tend to be most peoples choices for these shots.

I would also say with the Crush you dont need the orc.

let's see here. I don't really use many drivers, just and orc really, here's my bag

XD- Beat in horribly for extreme anhyzer short approaches
XD- Slightly beat in, same use, just a little less extreme
Classic roc- Beat in bad for longer extreme anhyzers
Classic roc- Beat in not quite as bad for longer extreme anhyzers

The following are what i use the most. The previous are just in my bag for a "just in case" situation

Ch Classic roc- 167, hold the anhyzers glide moreso than my 173
Ch Classic roc- 173, great disc for approach
Ch Cobra- maxweight, i use this like most people use a roc
Ch Sidewinder- different grips for different flight patterns
Ch Orc (2)- My main driver, both maxweight
Ch Teebird- Hammer/Thumber disc
Pro Starfire- Great distance for open holes, you can put a slight hyzer and take it really far
JLS- I grew up with this disc and I know it extremely well. Understable and i can throw it on a straight line

I think that's it

HAHA, forgot my putter...JK Aviar, i love it

Here is what the wife and I have atm:

2 DX Sharks 160's
2 Champion Sharks 166, 172
DX Cheetah 160's
2 Archanges 150, 167
2 Aviar putters
Champion Teebird 150

She bought the 2 c sharks yesterday, not sure why....

For now:

172 Ch. Firbird (high winds / knife hyzer / forehand hyzer)
172 Ch TeeBird (medium winds / hyzer finish / forehand straight)
172 DX Teebird (straight)
170 CH Sidwinder (right turns)
172 DX Beast (downwind / no wind distance)
171 Pro Wraith (Upwind / forehand distance)

176 Z Wasp (hyzer/wind)
168 X Wasp (straight)
168 D Buzzz (right turns)

175 DX aviar (hyzer putt / high wind / short drives)
168 Glo Aviar (money)

I'll take a stab at this, but I don't have a consistent driver yet.

Everyday discs (Always with me)
Champion Leopard (167g) - Main Driver (200'+)
DX Valk (169g) - Back up driver, but this thing is squirrely even at my power level. I have had some 330'+ drives with it though
Glow Roc (177g) - Midrange Very very beat (100-200')
Glow Avair(175g) - Putter Anything inside 100'

Depends on my mood:
Champion Orc/Star Wraith - Long Right to Left holes (I don't even bring these with me much anymore)
Glow T-Bird - Very, very flippy I get about the same distance for now with my Leopard (Not as stable as DX plastic) I have been disappointed with this disc. :(
DX Eagle - Very, very flippy I get about the same distance for now with my Leopard

I have a champion Valk and champion T-Bird on the way so I will have that power level covered. I have several DX versions of these, but they are two touchy.

Thx,
That's my first string...here's the bench:

1 X Xtra & 1 Ch Monster (high winds / knife hyzer / forehand hyzer)
2 Ch Teebirds (medium winds / hyzer finish / forehand straight)
1 DX TeeBird (straight)
1 X Xpress (right turns)
1 DX Beast & 1 pro Orc (downwind / no wind distance)

2 Z Wasps (left)
1 X Wasp & 2 Midnight Buzz's (straight)
1 D Hawk (right)

4 175 DX Aviars

...and a random few that I should trade or sell.
Now I need to keep myself from buying new plastic

Ah here goes.

Innova Star SL 168g
Innova Star Wraith 166g
Innova Champion Orc 168g
Innova DX Firebird 175g (beat in, lighter now probably)
Innova DX Firebird 171g
Innova DX Firebird 170g (really beat in. Not using as much)
Innova DX Banshee 170g
Innova Gummy DX Archangel 175g x3. Broken-in differently.
Innova Pro Starfire 168g
Innova Champion Teebird 172g
Innova DX Roc 174g
Innova JK Pro Aviar 175g
Innova JK Pro Aviar 169g (backup for other)

Also laying around, KC pro Teebird that was my first disc ever, and the Ching Velocity supreme which I just don't really care for, and the Ching JuJu which just doesn't compare to the JK Pro Aviar. Have a Champ Spider, a classic roc, a couple of aviars, and an old dragon laying around too.

As you can see I don't have a huge array of midranges. This could be a flaw. Probably will change once I improve my backhand.

I find it hard to believe, but its been over 2 months since I've posted my bag here, and a lot has changed. Although I always say that I think I'm set, as I've been getting into tournament season, I feel extremely comfortable with everything I'm throwing. I'm down to 16 discs and 8 molds, and have gotten rid of all the one-trick ponies. Once the DX Tee-Rexes are released, I'll be down to one mold of distance driver. I love the TLs and tried them for rolling, too, but they just couldn't beat the Leopards. As always Blake, your input is much appreciated. Here goes:

170g Star Wraith & 172g Star Tee-Rex - distance, use depends on wind and angle
172g Z Predator - headwinds, knife hyzers
174g Z Predator - trick shots only (overhands, forehand rollers, grenades, etc.), to keep the other Pred fresh
172g Star TL - main driver
171g CFR Glo TL - other main driver, especially low ceilings
171g Star TL - understable fairway driver
171g CFR TL - more overstable fairway driver (basically flies like a brand new DX Teebird but stays that way)
174g Q-Sentinel - overstable mid
174g Z Buzzz - straight mid (or hyzer or anhyzer if I want, it's pretty much the best disc ever)
172g D Buzzz - turnover mid
170g & 172g Pro Line CE Leopards (kinda taffy candy plastic, pre-Champion) - rollers
175g 10x KC Pro Aviar & 175g Star Aviar - short drives and approaches
175g Star Aviar - putting and putting only, holds a line on long putts like nothing else

Occasionally I throw in a beat to hell 174g Elite Pro XL if I feel my game is a bit off. It was one of my first discs, I can make it do anything for me, and its very comforting on those bad days in tight woods.

bag looks okay. as a note, a beat up pro tl will smoke any leopard as a roller due to the flight characteristics of the TL being better for max D rollers and controlled rollers that won't stand up as fast.

Thanks, Blake. I had tried rolling with Star TLs previously, thinking that they'd be more gyroscopic, but I didn't like them so much. I'll have to bring out my Pro TLs and see what I can do -- have a little Leopard/TL showdown. I don't get huge distance out of the Leopards, but I find them very controllable for rolling.
