COVID-19 Course Closures

But the CDC says 6 feet is fine. The point is the paranoid & scared of getting sued cities are going overboard for no valid reason. Unless we are going to contract the disease from the baskets touching our discs. That seems unlikely.

27 feet is the new 6 feet.

Armco is shut down, as an FYI. Caution tape on the tee pads, and chains are currently closed with trash bags and duct tape. And the guy who maintains the course said that if he gets another set of ripped trash bags, he's pulling the baskets

Just posted on FB.

For me, 15 minutes of walking is more boring than 30 minutes of DG. I may call 2 nearby cities and see if theirs are down. I know the walking track near one was open as of a few days ago. But both of them are hard to figure out Im told.

I don't see any chance of the course being pulled.

That sounds like a you problem, hombre.

Why not? Just curious.

St. Louis City & St. Louis County Park Courses & Logan University are closed until 4/30

You have no idea what the risk of contracting the disease is from baskets and far more importantly....

It is not all about you. :wall::wall:

Stay the $%@& at home.

Use some common sense and just try to imagine it is the life of your most loved one, that the rest of us are trying to save.

Neither do you. Quit the ****ing preaching. This pandemic is bigger than you and disc golf, scolding people isn't going to change a damn thing. Just because most of society has made poor life choices isn't a justification for authoritarianism.

Courses all over Vermont have been closing over the past 10 days or so but many people are still playing. The next step at some will likely be to pull baskets.

I don't have time to look back through this whole thread but saw someone say a course in Boulder, CO was closed (Valmont).

I'm a little surprised as the governor keeps encouraging people to get outside and exercise and get fresh air (so long as you keep distance and don't get in big groups). I know for a fact that things like public parks and even regular golf courses remain open and are being used.

I say if ball golfers are allowed to gather and play then disc golf is probably allowed as well.

When I passed by the (ball) golf course closest to my house yesterday it was pretty crowded with people playing.

The number of cars in the parking lot doesn't necessarily mean squat. How close were they really in proximity to each other?

Were there 4-6 of them within a 15 ft circle?
Were they high fiving each other for good shots?

I didn't pay attention to the parking lot. Riding by on my motorcycle, you can see most of the one course (there are two courses there) from three different roads. Overall activity on the course in general seemed average or above compared to what I would usually notice going by. I couldn't get an accurate count of people or pay attention to their distances or their specific actions.

I think my only point was that since normal golf courses are allowed to be open and in business, I would be surprised to see any public disc golf courses officially closed right now.

Well, since you have decided to bring up the main point discussed for nearly 200 posts, I will catch you up.

Disc golf courses across the country, are being closed, after park systems and municipalities witness groups of disc golfers paying no attention to distancing. There have been dozens of examples here, of courses left open at first, some even then placing signs, imploring golfers to practice distancing and then still having to close them for noncompliance. Even discussion of players, playing closed courses. Potentially forcing parks to pull the baskets completely. Perhaps swat golfers are practicing distancing better, but my guess is most courses are private property.

IMO, playing disc golf is a risk to a LOT of people and not a necessity. I have chosen to sacrifice my personal gratification to stay home and save lives..

Selfish people like yourself are the reason why the rest of us will have to wait longer for life to get back to normal. Thanks.

Flat Rock Park in Columbus, GA had gates closed. Assumed it's closed. Moved on the Tyus and Don Shannon Memorial in Griffin, GA. Both open. Even ran into a group of 10 mob golfers drinking beer and blasting music. Looked like they were enjoying themselves.

Bernie Sanders dropped out after 4 weeks of socialism! Quit trying to control others. It won't work, and you will be sitting at home unhappy.

Like I said....
