Frisbee Golf

I'm still amazed that Wham-o isn't the leader in manufacturing golf discs! What happened there? Who ever their marketing specialist is they should be fired! Talk about missing the boat.

Well, they do, or did, make them, but I don't know anyone that does or ever has thrown them.

Played in my first Tourney yesterday. It wasn't a PDGA official tourney, but it was a fundraising tourney for the TN Tech disc golf team(last years national champs) ... Open and pro division. Prolly 23 in open and 12 in pro. I shot +1 and ended up with 3rd. I have only been playing for 5 months or so and the 2 guys that beat me have been playing for 5+ years. I also missed 3 birds and had 2 bogeys on the last 9. I was very happy!

Their Frisbee marketing guy was Ed Headrick. When Wham-O wouldn't go for disc golf, he started DGA. Had Wham-O gone all in on disc golf in the mid 70's, pretty much everything we know today as disc golf changes.

Interesting comment. I'm curious, in your opinion, in what ways specifically were you thinking of how things would be different. Do you think we would be further along than we are now, with the Wham-O juggernaut behind us? Serious post, I was trying to picture it.

The same reason that the disc sport that most resembles football/soccer/flicker is now called "Ultimate" and not "Ultimate Frisbee"
