Hole 18 at Maximo Park?

Anyone know why they removed hole 18 and made the alternate at 8?

I hope that hole is not gone forever. That was one of the coolest holes scenery-wise. You would tee off in the woods and throw out into an open area. When you followed your disc out to where it landed you found yourself on a peninsula surrounded on 3 sides by the bay - beautiful! An incredible way to end the round.

when i played in Daytona i had a great time trying to avoid the palms. quite a chore though.

I think their was a big stink about native american 'sites' and or certain species of flora. Im from atlanta so I dont know the whole story but damn I love that course!!
