Holes in a DAy Record Attempt

Here's their planned route (starting lower-left) through 559 holes (they played 500). This tracked perfectly with their facebook posts through 157, but then things didn't match up. I will update after they post a list of the actual courses played.

Oak Grove 9 502
Twin Lakes 9 511
Lions 3 9 520
Zimmerman 18 538
Riebbe 9 547
Springvale 12 559

After looking at options such as terrain, distance, proximity to other courses and ability to play quickly, we didn't play Lakewood, Bethel, Plymouth Creek, Elm Creek, Abundant Life, Family of Christ, or Springvale. We added Eagles Edge in the middle, Cambridge City Park and Isanti Middle School at the end.

500 holes (yes, each :|), Mikes pedometer said 59 miles, 280 miles traveled in the car (I'll check time driving in a bit), ready golf like Steve West said, and I know Mike took a jumper (or two, or three).

We'll have more stats when Mike wakes up in a bit. I don't know why the f@#$@$K I'm awake right now.

At the end, I could only throw my driver about 60% of normal, 250ish when max consistent distance is 375 or so.

3 aces in first 4 courses (Mike 2, Dan 1). Mike aced 9 at Staring lake, 4 at Hennepin Tech Eden Prairie, and I aced 13 at Bryant. Mike spit through chains on a skip shot at Alimagnet #2, and I crashed chains hard at Rosland #9 and Red Oak #6.

Mike hit metal on hole 1 at Isanti Middle School, our last course played(post, but still metal). It's a 300ish foot hole. Incredible.

Thanks. I think these maps are close.

Route planning is key when doing something like this, namely minimizing the amount of driving time, avoiding work zones, avoiding popular courses at peak hours.

I was supposed to do half of this feat a couple of weeks ago, but didn't have time. Kind of cool to see not one, but two guys pull this off.

Steve West had created a map to accomplish what we did a few times, 3,4,5+ years ago, and he's adapted the route probably each year since so we were ready when we found the right time. Without the proper planning, we would have spent too much time in the car. We played all of these courses, and only drove 280 miles, due to his help.

For anyone curious who didn't follow the event page I had going on Facebook, Dan Schnabel and I broke the World Record for the Most Distinct Disc Golf Holes played in 24 hours. The previous record was set in 2004 at 380 holes played for the day over 31 courses. On Thursday and Friday from 4:53 a.m. to 3:13 a.m., Dan and I played 500 holes over 40 courses. The original record was set in Daylight hours, during daylight hours, Dan and I played 417 holes, also besting that mark. Here's a statistical breakdown, as well as a few shout-outs to some key people who helped make this happen:
All right, sorry it took more than a day to get something posted about the numbers of the event, yesterday was quite a long day. So for those curious, here are some statistics about the event. I was able to keep score for every round by wearing a runner's armband, keeping UDisc open on my phone with the autolock turned off. My phone also kept our pedometer tally throughout the attempt.

Lastly, we couldn't have done this without the help of Charlie Hutchinson who donated all of the plastic we threw in the attempt. Check out his business at Gotta Go GottaThrow, they are phenomenal.
Steve West who mapped out the route for us, and made sure we had smooth sailing throughout.
Lastly Tony Anderlie who was our main spotter during high traffic hours on the courses and made sure we could play through all the groups during play so our pace didn't slow. And Russell Bowman who was our spotter and driver during night hours. Without him we wouldn't have made it much further than 450 holes, he really pushed us forward.
Thanks to everyone who followed us and encouraged us throughout the day, it was definitely a treacherous journey. Until next time.

Congrats to you two on this incredible record!!:clap::clap:

Absolutely amazing!!!

I'm also impressed by the sheer number of courses in that area! You couldn't even come close to that number of holes within that distance of sunny Sacramento

Seriously amazing!
What did you eat during/between rounds?
I have to imagine there were LOTS of fluids involved.
Did you run? Less than 2 min a hole is a crazy pace.

UMMMHMMMM...LAWDY HATH MERTHY

This is a really cool record. I thought I played a lot this weekend with a final hole count at 114 over 3 days lol.

There's just so much strategy in the logistics, endurance, and...and...AND THEY EVEN KEPT SCORE. Gray matter detonated.

We drank Gatorade and water. We ate tons of bananas, Clif Bars, chips, and ate lunchable sandwiches.

We added another 18 hole course the day after they set the record.
