[Question] ID a disc or ask "What is the story on this disc...?" - Take II

I laid them on top each other and they look like the same diameter. I have a Rubber putter and that has a bead this does not. Besides that the profile looks the same. I don't have a P-38.

It's bugging me too.

Off subject but would be nice for all the information here to somehow be in an easily searched and indexed format.

Hey guys, i was referred here because i need help IDing a disc. Im new to the site and glad to be here. Picked this guy up i the used bin at a resale shop. The diameter of the disc is 8 inches, the width of the rim is 3/4 of an inch, and the thicksness of the rim is a 1/2 inch.

Looking at the marking on the bottom, it could be a Pro Orc. Not certain of that though. does it feel like pro plastic?

Can we get a clearer picture of the wing profile? Get a shot of the edge of the disc so we can see the portion of the disc that looks like >

Hopefully these help. It does feel similar to a pro mold style of disc.

This is what he meant by a profile pic. You can get a much clearer view of the shape of the wing this way.

That bottom stamp is from Infinite Discs. Maybe check with them and see if they have any idea?

We ran a batch of Factory Star Dyed discs last year. We only did Destroyers and Teebirds and they all had that bottom stamp. Those and the blank Novas were the only discs we put that stamp on. So it's a Teebird or Destroyer.

Gotta be a Teebird then. Destroyers don't have the notch in the wing, which is what made me think Thunderbird.

Can anyone tell me what year this roc is from and what mold it is?

I know it's a cfr from National Doubles Championship in Texas and it's KC. It has San Marino CA on the bottom.

After doing a little more research.. that means it couldn't be a KC then right?
Nope. KC Rocs came out in...I don't know. The first ones I got were in the spring of '98 but they could have been out in late '97 and my disc guy could have just been keeping me in the dark. ANYWAY, that disc is a DX San Marino BUT DX back then could be a hard bulletproof KCish plastic so I could see how somebody might say that.

Thanks for the info. Thats what I was thinking. Even though its pretty beat it still feels like that firm/hard KC plastic and it still flies pretty nice just no fade really left on it lol

So not many of these were really made?

Oh, tons of those were made. Not with that stamp, but San Marino Rocs were made from '87 to '94. It was the second-best selling disc behind the Aviar. They get to be somewhat hard to find now because '94 was a long time ago, but they made tons of them.

The no fade thing was a feature, they would keep the HSS so they really didn't flip but the LSS would beat out of them and they stopped fading much. A seasoned San Marino just went straight. It's a great thrower.
