Maybe you should just stop whining and learn to putt better, so it wouldn't bother you so much how others putt.

How tall are you?
Now stretch your arm into the air, how tall is that?
Now one person is standing straight up at the marked lie, and one is falling towards the basket, how much closer is that person?
yup, 3-8'
Or, everyone could play from the same spot.
Well, I'm 6'5". I would have to lay on the ground with my arm stretched out over my head to get 8'. I'm certain I can putt better standing up than laying on the ground. So, no advantage. Next!
The thing is.......wait for it.......you can do it too!!!!!! No one has an advantage, except the guy that can do it, over the guy that can't. Then the guy that can't whines about it, and proclaims that it should be illegal.
or, someone is playing 3-8' closer to the basket from their marked lie.
My arm doesn't start at the top of my head. My should is lower than my head. That's normal, right?
What difference does it make?!?!? I can stand at my lie and extend my arm 2' closer to the basket. Should that be illegal too?
You obviously can't articulate a good arguement for changing the rule, so you focus on semantics. Good day.
And how is that different than a putt inside the circle?I have a problem with someone stepping over the foul line when shooting free throws.

You mean like Tim Duncan does here, with the ball and several parts of his body past the plane of the free throw line during the shooting motion?
Or more like every free throw shooter who doesn't show balance before stepping over the line to go for the rebound on a miss?
They have different rules. The ball is to be released before anyone can come into the lane.
Exactly. Wouldn't making a putt from outside the circle be more like a 3-point shot becasue it's one way to make up a stroke? So if we use basketball as an analogy then we should be able to jump past our marker with no supporting points outside of 10M. Of course there's always the "fact" that 3-point shots look silly and are making it so basketball never really makes it big, so yo have to take that into consideration as well. And how is that different than a putt inside the circle?
