Philadelphia, Delaware, DC, Atlantic City

You will be near lots of fantastic courses. What sort of courses do you like - woods, open bombers, short and technical?

We prefer park and woods courses. We are open to anything as long as navigation is do able and it's not over grown.

skip atlantic city unless you are a degenerate gambler desperate for a fix. what little charm it had years ago is long gone.

Agreed, unless you just want to balance out the trip to Amish country.
The only good thing about Atlantic City is Levon Helm's version of the Springsteen song.

I figured I would talked to people while I was out there and figure out the best place to go. I have heard of Atlantic City before so it was the first place that came to mind to stay for the night and see the Atlantic Ocean.

I just got back from a bachelor party in South Lake Tahoe so my gambling itch has been scratched for a while.

I'm the opposite, I much prefer Roland to Ship Rock, however the new kid in town, Muddy Run is primo!

I haven't seen Muddy Run, I'll have to get back out there sometime.

What didn't you like about Ship? The OB feels contrived, but I really like the property.

If going to AC was mostly for seeing the ocean, why not go to cape henlopen in Delaware? One of the oldest courses in the area, designed by steady Ed himself, plays through the dunes and scrub pines right on the coast. Plus Delaware beaches are FAR better than Atlantic City. AC is for degenerate gambling, and 1000 times more sleazy than vegas' most back alley casino. Or ocean city MD for the beach, it's still kinda trashy, but it's a very east coast beach trash town experience!

In short Ship Rock is 2/3 wide open. Roland is 2/3 heavily wooded.

Good call.
Anyone taken the ferry to Cape May ?

Iron Hill, Nockamixon, Muddy Run

If you want to see the definition of East Coast Wooded Monsters, there are two absolute must-plays in that region.
Iron Hill and Nockamixon.

Totally agree with above. If/when you get to the Lancaster area to see Amish stuff, Muddy Run is pretty brand new and a fantastic course as well. But I can't overstate enough what Mando said. If you want the definition of creme of the crop Mid-Atlantic east coast golf, Nockamixon and Iron Hill. Iron Hill is often considered the most difficult permanent par 72 layout in the world. It was designed for par to be 1000-rated, though recently, as more ppl have been slaying it, par plays about 990.

Played Iron Hill yesterday and it did not disappoint. We got our butts kicked score wise bit had a fantastic time. It's raining today but hoping to play another course near Wilmington tomorrow.
