A lot of the east TN shops have taken down their Discraft wall because they straight up haven't been able to get discs for the last 2 years. If Dickerson did go to Discraft, I wonder if they would make more of an effort to get discs to this part of the country.
Another idea that some people around here are floating (I don't think that means anything, they were all blown away that he left Prodigy) is that he partners up with Phil Arthur.
I don't know a lot about the inner workings at Prodigy and was surprised a while back when Phil left to start EV7. I knew he was a huge part of things, but wasn't sure if it was mainly molding and design knowledge, the business side of things, or both? Seemed to be well liked by the players.
It seemed kind of odd that EV7 was being marketed as a premium putter only company. I guess I figured why limit yourself to one specific area when you could make everything. The whole situation seemed to work though signing Drew and then him doing the mixed bag deal with Infinite. Dunno if Phil is forward thinking and intended EV7 to be putter only to be ahead of the mixed bag trend?
My local PIAS carries the penrose, plastic blends all feel pretty good and the disc is fairly comfy. I'm just outside of STL though, in Gateway's back yard, so wizards are a dime a dozen and it's really easy to get the exact feel you're looking for. Personally I think the EV7 blends feel a lot like Gateway's stuff, which isn't a bad thing. It's fairly known that Dave Mac is always tinkering with plastic blends…some people love it and others hate it, so something similar with less variance should go over well. Haven't held a phi but I'd expect it to be a fairly solid mold as well.
Seems like Dickerson's departure from Prodigy came about fairly quick. That's not to say that Phil didn't reach out to him once he heard the news, but if the plan was to sign Chris and announce a full disc lineup you'd think something like that would have been a longer term plan. The departure from Prodigy seemed more reactionary at face value.
There's a chance he goes the EV7 and Infinite route like Drew, and you could say the same thing about Cat. To me at least, I don't see either of them really trying to set themselves apart as a big social media presence. Seems like with a mixed bag people want to know what you're checking out and bagging. He also doesn't come across as the guy who is looking to sign the biggest deal to prove he's the best. Take a bigger base than he was getting, make sure travel expenses are covered, and dedicate your time to practice and winning.
