[Innova] The mythical Innova ROC

Could someone tell me about the san marino rocs? I have all rancho rocs and i know how they fly, I also know that the ontarios are more flippy than ranchos.
How do the san marinos fly? Im getting one in a trade.
Back in the day, San Marino's started beefy but beat in pretty easily. Once you beat the fade out of them, they were straight and stayed that way forever. Well, not forever but a long time.

Ontario's didn't start all that beefy. They beat in to straight and then into a nice turnover disc. You had to cycle them a lot quicker than a San Marino, and they never really got that dependable dead-nuts straight not gonna turnover flight the San Marino's had. I used to say throwing an Ontario into the wind was a religious experience because it involved a lot of praying.

Rancho's fixed that problem. They start out beefier than the San Marino's, but they beat in nicely. For all-around greatness the Rancho is probably the best Roc, but really nothing ever duplicated that flight that the beat-in San Marino's had.

That was based on the originals in DX. I know nothing about the recreated San Marino's and Ontario's. The Star San Marino I had flew like a brick. :\

I also find it a bit creepy that I post I made five years ago keeps getting quoted. Damn Interwebz.

Oh, well. I could be worse. I could have made a porn movie or something.

Do they still make the Roc+? That is the Roc mold I really have not thrown at all.

Yeah, they are still making them:

Yeah, I am still not buying them.

Followup on my recommendation post earlier - I expect to try a KC roc and a DX in 176+.

All else held equal, what is more desirable and why - flatter vs domier, and low PLH vs high PLH?

I carry probably way too many rocs in my bag. Problem is, they all have a use for me. Domey ones are great for glide and good bit of fade when new. Flatter ones are the shizz on straight or low ceiling shots, and a beat roc for turnovers (duh). What I love about rocs is that they are everywhere. Stock runs are cheap and easy to replace. Just know what you are looking for when you shop I guess

I truly don't understand why innova doesn't make a regular run of champion rocs, it blows my mind.

Its pretty easy to understand actually. They do it to preserve the collective nature of the disc.

Yep, it's all about the $$$. Low supply, high demand, they can charge a premium for them. Do as I do and grab a flat Z Wasp, it's the poor man's Champion Roc.

Or just go to Disc Golf United and pick up an xout for $20 like I do.

Getting a wasp just wouldn't be the same. And I looked into that and I can't handle the shipping. Right now I have a q sentinel as my poor man's roc.

I love my z wasp and love the trustworthy fade characteristics of it. My Max weight rancho doesn't come close to the over stability of my wasp, but champ/z plastic doesn't glide like dx. I have recently (today) Fell in love with my 180 dx racho. And the idea of cycling some dx and reducing the molds I carry should help with consistent grip/release. I think I will cycle some tbirds for fairways also........

Bought a yellow dx roc today with a flag stamp and noticed it has patent numbers and no www tooling. Its close to flat and stiffer than some i've felt. Is this old stock or is this the norm??
