Video clips by jr, lcgm8, mafa and others

Here is the latest episode of Disc Golf Live video magazine, including the Sr Grandmaster and Grandmaster divisions from Worlds 2012. JR and his crew helped out with footage from the Tali Open, which is coming up on the 2013 Calendar in just a few short months.

Part 1 starts at the Sugaw Creek course in Charlotte following the Sr. Grands before moving on to Final Nine footage:

Part 2 concludes coverage from pt 1 of the Tali Open in Helsinki before the Grandmasters do battle at the Scrapyard, and their Final Nine circuit is far more than a formality.

Lots of great names from our sport's history on these reels, World Champions and luminaries too numerous to count. Names such as Voakes, Greenwell, Dunipace, Sias, Mela, and Hosfeld come to mind. There's even Beaver and Beers. Hos's putting alone is a highlight reel, not to mention his chain-out during the finals.

If you'd like to bring DGL to your local access station, copies of the show are free. Don't wait for somebody else to do it, they won't.

Timo is career wise the most successful Finnish player ever with multiple Finnish titles and a world junior championship title among other achievements. He had a hiatus of a few years and this was his comeback event.

Ari is a board member of the Finnish Frisbee Association.

Björn is one of the best Finnish grandmasters i think with a championship under his belt. Sorry i could not check his stats because he is not a current member of the PDGA.

Aku belongs to the organizing club and finished 4th in the junior division in the Finnish championships 2012 despite playing with fever.

Kalle Savonen has a Finnish title in doubles. Miko Fyhr plays on his home course and was rated 1002 at the time of the event i think. Check out his clutch "putting" for birdie :) Teemu Niemi plays this course a lot too. Lassi Hakulinen placed 4th in Finnish nationals in open in 2012 and was a long thrower in 2012 with rapid progress overall and especially in distance over the winter. He is well on the way to win the Finnish winter series 2012/2013.

Great stuff!! I love that course. I felt so bad for Bjorn. He started out struggling for the first few holes. You have to have a lot of shots in the bag to do well there. And one bad kick and you're OB. It looks brutal.

Especially the first hole but a couple after that too are quite punishing and can mind screw you out of the round or the entire event. Björn has nerves of steel when putting and got his game back on later in the round but he exhibited the typical behavior after getting compound errors zig zagging from tree to tree on hole 1. It is funny how difficult it is to stop the downward spiral which shows how mental this game is.

Tali Open 2012 round 2 part 3 where the players get to a more exposed part of the course and the winds from the sea influence the discs more:

Hole 14 is very tough with the OB in front and behind the basket. Plus, the basket is on a mound. Poor Kalle had no luck at all when he took that 8. Brutal... I really do like that hole though.

There is another danger to the buncr rule (with dz) bunker hole in the wind blowing hard from right to left from the first third of the distance onward and the tee being shielded by trees. Kalle was raped by the wind and it ruined his event.

The final is on Youtube channel lcgm8

This is the last time i try to announce live while filming. It increases the chances of missing shots, adds pressure and tires me out creating inferior sound quality.

A huge thank you to Janne Hirsimäki for editing the first two rounds of this three round event.

The first round was played in colder conditions and the camera was too cold to work properly so there's only the preview video on the same channel from that round.
