Disc Golf Live #53 is in the hands of our broadcast partners across the country. We've titled this one "Return of the Champ," to recognize Ken Climo's quest for his first PDGA World Championship title in the Master's division. Our coverage includes footage from rain-soaked Renaissance Park as well as the Final Nine. Scenic Traverse City, MI, is the setting for the story of a disc golf course created from broken hearts. First-time contributor Ian Anderson of Central Coast Disc Golf sent along coverage of the End of the Trail Classic from Visalia, CA, and long-time contributor Billy Crump of ClashDVD provided footage of the inaugural PDGA Championship from the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, GA.

We're happy disc golfers can view episodes of Disc Golf Live on Youtube, but the real reason for the show is to bring DG to folks who've never seen the game before through broadcasts on local and community access TV stations. If you have a station in town and aren't seeing DG on TV, drop us a note and we'll help you get set up to receive free copies of DGL for your station.

Among the newest stations to pick up DGL via online download is the South Washington County Telecommunications Commission in Minnesota. http://www.swctc.org/
This station serves Woodbury, Cottage Grove, Newport, St. Paul Park, Grey Cloud Island. Its too early to know when the shows will be scheduled but expect some DG on TV soon.

Best regards,

Joe

This video was filmed and edited entirely by lcgm8 and commented by Ian and Kevin from CCDG. This way we can film more events this year than ever before. Lcgm8 is risking repetitive stress injuries when editing with the deluge of events we're gonna cover this year. He has not listed all the events on his Youtube page we're gonna cover.

Here is the Dutch Open 2013 MPO finals with native English commentary for the first time on lcgm8 graciously done by Ian and Kevin -great job guys and thanks a LOT!!!

No problem! This all happened from us talking in a thread here a while back :) We would really love to keep doing it. There have been a couple negative responses, but for the most part it looks like people like the combo!

Thanks JR!

It is good to experiment with different styles and content of commentary to see what the audiences like. You can never please everyone but it is a good idea to have some variation to cater for the majority over time and hopefully some minorities too to serve as large a potion of the public as possible. The more people we can attract to the sport the better has been my driving force behind doing these videos as well as enhancing the enjoyment of the sport for those that are already involved in it.

Having a native speaker talking is so much better than me or Juha so it was refreshing to hear something authentic so thanks a lot guys!

Two cameras at the Copenhagen Open starting two days from now. Unfortunately it is gonna rain each day according to weather forecasts so the worst case scenario is that we need to use just one camera and have one of us holding an umbrella to protect the camera. It will be windy so the rain is likely to come in horizontal or too close to it. It's not nice if the drops hit the lenses despite the umbrella. You cannot film well through an umbrella protecting the lens from horizontal rain...

That's a bummer about the weather, I hope it ends up ok. It looks like tour season in Europe is starting to kick off, should be awesome :)

We got showers especially in the morning and it was cool but the day got warm and lcgm8 and me have red skin in the face from filming a lot. I dried up both camera batteries. 28+ gigs of data and lcgm8 got even more.

Fantastic can't wait to see it!

I don't know when the videos can be made and published because we had a monkey wrench thrown at us. We are in the dark about the details so there is no point in discussing it with others than the ones responsible so i won' tell because i don't know what the facts are. What i can tell is that these videos will not be published any time soon.

On the first day i filmed a group with two Swedish juniors, Locastro, Gurthie and McBeth. On the second Shusterick, McBeth, Owens, Feldberg and Piironen. Today and tomorrow the MPO lead group. I have shots from others groups as well from single throws to a little over one hole. Except i got more holes partially filmed from Val, Paige, Holly and the rest in their card after i had filmed the guys. I ran out of battery power so i did not get each of the holes the ladies played from then on. And i was not filming like usual following the flight of the disc each time. So it might not be interesting to see all the time what kind of throws the ladies had since that is not always what's on the screen. We were asked to show emotions of the players so we tried at times to zoom in on the faces of the players after throwing.
