Ths list contains one hole from each of the eighteen courses with at least 18 holes, within a hour of the Twin Cities (my side of town) and still in Minnesota. It's not always the very best hole on a course but that's hard to do and get a great hole that fits the numbering scheme. There are a few new holes in there that are part of the proposed course upgrades to prepare for Am Worlds in 2014.

1. Acorn
2. Ft. Snelling
3. Maiden Shade
4. Blue Ribbon Pines
5. Baylor
6. Kaposia (proposed revision)
7. C. P. Adams
8. Lions I
9. Crown College
10. Wirth Par 3
11. The Valley DGC
12. Elm Creek
13. Red Oak
14. Oakwood (proposed 13-14 combo)
15. Kenwood Trails
16. Lakewood Hills (proposed 3-16 combo)
17. Bryant Lake
18. Hyland SSA

Now that is a really cool idea. There would be a lot of travel involved in a lot of cities, but what a crazy day that could be. Very creative!!!

Basically what I am thinking is it is a way to expose people to lots of courses. I travel every winter to see as many courses as I can and I see a lot of great things out there on a lot of courses . . . even courses that receive a 1.0-2.0 disc ratings here on DGCR.

It could also be a season long event where each week you must play one specific course and the Dream 18 holes are unannounced in advance. You turn in your scorecards and the only scores that count are the holes on the Dream 18. It would also discourage people from cheating (although a cheater is going to cheat regardless probably). I just have faith that people will be honest. The only issue I am running into is some courses have multiple basket locations and the holes could be very dramatically different from day to day or week to week.

I think the way you do it is part of an annual club prize. Specify in advance which holes on which courses will be included in the Dream 18. Then have one of your stats people enter the best hole score each player has on the holes as they progress thru the year in all of the events the club considers legit to be considered including both sanctioned and unsanctioned events, maybe even leagues. It's likely some courses will be used in more than one event so players have more than one shot to get all 18 holes during the year (as long as you know what tee/pin were played.) Maybe near the summer solstice you have an event where players can get a lot of courses covered with an all day run around town.

there are pdga events at 4 different courses in spotsy the week before memorial day... might be a good way for MJ to make a few more dollars...

Imagine introducing someone to this course.

(In a golf whisper) "OK, this first hole is nestled in the trees in this quiet neighborhood park. Just toss it across the little pond to that basket right there."

Then, Boom! On 2 you're out in the wide open, windy golf course with an Airbus revving its engines a few feet to your left, and you have to yell "THE HOLE IS 900 FEET THAT WAY!"

Imagine the driving miles to play each of those holes in order. Maiden Shade to BRP is a killer.

I the proposed revision on Kaposia mean they are going to finally reverse that hole?

Yes, one option proposed would involve one or two hole reversals for better course flow plus tweaking those holes so they're at least as good and likely better than they are now. But we don't want to post these proposal drafts until we get an indication each of the Park Depts are onboard for revisions and the budget to do them might become available. Then, I think the proposals can be shared for player comments and final tweaking since we'll need volunteers to help execute the parts of the proposals that get approved and funded.

If someone finally gets that done it will be an awesome hole.

Imagine the driving miles to play each of those holes in order. Maiden Shade to BRP is a killer.

One could do 18 holes at 18 different courses with less drive time than just the Maiden Shade to BRP leg.

Charleston, SC dream 18

1.Haut Gap
2.Eagle Landing
3.Kiawah Island
4.Trophy Lakes (either tee)
5.Johns Island DGC
6.Trophy Lakes (par 4, blue)
7.Hampton Park
8.Haut Gap
9.West Ashley
10.Trophy Lakes (par 4, blue)
11.Trophy Lakes (par 4, blue)
12.Trophy Lakes (par 4, either teepad has risk/reward, best permanent hole in the Charleston area in my opinion as well as most underrated because you can make a 3, 4 or 5)
13.Trophy Lakes (short position in ground)
14.Park Circle
15.Hampton Park
16.West Ashley (old and new position)
17.Eagle Landing
18.Hampton Park (prettiest hole in Charleston in my opinion. The teepad is under a huge Gingko tree which blooms each November and December and the right side of the fairway as well as the green is covered by enormous Live Oaks)
19.Hampton Park (Island hole, I have played with people who have made 2's as well as 9's).

Honorable mentions that could have made it are,
#1 Kiawah Island
#2 Trophy Lakes (blue)
#3 Hampton Park
#3 Trophy Lakes (white)
#5 Trophy Lakes (par 4, blue)
#5 Hampton Park
#6 Hampton Park (Gazebo Hole)
#8 Hampton Park (low ceiling tunnel shot with basket under a beautiful live oak, also my most popular photograph is of this hole with a ghost hanging out to the right of the basket)
#8 Kiawah Island
#11 West Ashley
#15 Trophy Lakes (either teepad)
#16 Hampton Park (fountain hole)
