Pros:
Incredibly well set into the land that's there. The patch of woods between the elementary and middle schools wasn't that big, and yet they fit a good 17 holes into it (more on that in the cons).
Hole 18 can be used as a practice basket.
The signage has held up incredibly well.
There are directional signs that point you to the next hole if it's tough to find.
The little pucks on top of the basket with the number taped/painted on are far easier to read than those on a DGA basket.
The quality of holes is admirable. Mostly in the 200-300ft range the woods are the main feature of this course. Only once is the basket completely obscured (hole 8), but it's usually tough to make it all the way to the pin in one shot.
Cons:
Very little elevation to speak of. Holes 4-7 and 15 are the only ones with noticeable change.
The tee pads are not good. The loose gravel is kind of all over the place and makes running up on the tee confusing and sometimes dangerous.
The baskets catching power is abysmal. The amount of times I spit out taking practice putts told me that birdies were going to be hard to come by (Ironically I birdied the hole I was practicing on). Combine with that the amount of damage on over half the cages and you have a new obstacle that should never be an obstacle.
The course is closed during school hours. Not a problem during summer, but during spring/fall, this is a major annoyance.
Hole 17. It stands apart from the course, literally and figuratively. The tee is 10' into the woods... after which it's 300' of open grass straight away from the rest of the course. Yes, that does mean you'll play the hole, and then walk straight back down the fairway to 18's tee. With the rest of the course being packed into a tidy little area this is so out of place it could throw you off.
Other Thoughts:
Tee of 9 is practically in one house's backyard. I'm not sure if they are the ones adding the decorations to the tee, but it's nice either way.
I never saw this walking trail that everyone has talked about.
Parking at the elementary school you can start on hole 1, or you can park at the middle school and start at hole 2. It's a nice loop either way.
Overall, this is a fun, quick course. I'd recommend it to anyone in the Northland. Is it worth the drive if you live further to the south of KC... in my opinion, no. But if you want to do a double of this course and Hobby Hill that could make a nice day of disc golf. Come, have your fun, curse the basket when it spits out your birdie putt, and you decide how much you like it.
