Pros:
- The layout of the course really is great. I never felt like I threw the same style throw twice. Great use of elevation where feasible, great use of trees. Really is a top quality layout.
- Very good signage and a beautiful course map at the start.
- All the holes have a pole with nails in it to put your bag on, which is great since the course was almost entirely mud (more on the mud in the cons).
Cons:
- Not having permanent tee pads is always a con, but most of the time it is understandable. However, the course is within a few hundred feet of the Mississippi River, the entire course was completely mud in the middle of summer. I don't understand why that wasn't the biggest priority when the course was created. I didn't throw a single drive full strength because I was worried about slipping, not a pleasant feeling.
- Some holes have a 2-by-4 or something in the ground to mark where the tee-line is, but at least half the holes didn't have that. If you aren't going to have permanent tee pads, at least be sure all the holes have a definite spot that marks the tee. Most of the time I just had to throw near the tree that had the tee sign or there was a worn spot in the ground that I assumed was the spot people threw from. The tee boxes need to be figured out.
- The other reviews say that new baskets and tee pads are coming, but they are from 2014-2015, and since it's August 2016, I guess they aren't being installed. Truly disappointing.
Other Thoughts:
- Even with the dreadful tee box situation, the superb layout of the course still gave me a positive outlook of the course. Which really is saying something about how well it is laid out. If some form of permanent tee pads were installed, this really would be a top-tier course.
- I haven't played any of the courses in the general area, so I don't have any opinion on playing here or going somewhere else, just play here knowing you will be sliding and your discs will be mudding.
