[Other] ABC Discs

Good luck man. I'd suggest getting each disc characteristics up. HSS,LSS, speed and glide.

Thanks

From yesterday's newsletter:

From yesterday's newsletter:

We have finally fixed the issue with the hot stamping. Production of
the first run of Money putters will begin tomorrow morning. Release
dates will follow soon after.

Here is the latest News letter:

May 31st
The Screamer, Secret Weapon and Flying Squirrel have been sent off to
the PDGA for approval. We should have approval by Monday.

The Screamer will be a very long range stable driver. You will most
certainly know it is your stable disc. I have many of the big arms
testing it and it will not flip on you. It is a wide lip disc that
will be very fast out of your hand. Bring on the wind! It is also
great for skip and flick shots.

The Secret Weapon does what only a beat in disc will do. Give this bad
boy some hyzer and it will stand up and go. It is an under stable
disc. Once it flips up on you it just takes off. I can not wait to get
it into my bag and for tournament play. It will be great for rollers.
It has a bigger lip, but not a monster lip. It is an easy disc to
throw.

The Flying Squirrel will finally get approved. I have been waiting to
get a bottom plate to get the discs heavier. There are a ton of folks
that already own the disc and have put the pressure on me to send it
in. I have never found an easier disc to throw. Give it some hyzer
with a 3/4 throw and it just carries so well. The glide is absolutely
incredible. This disc will carve out fairways through the woods. It is
the first disc a new player should have. I am so excited about this
disc. You will like! A heavier version of the Squirrel will be
available soon.

Production has just begun on the Gamma Ray. As with the Money putter
first run, we will run the initial run in our company colors of red,
yellow and blue. There were a few kinks that needed to be worked out.
Nothing but the best will be allowed out. I have been using the Gamma
Ray for several weeks now and it certainly has shaved strokes off my
game. It will yours too!

Finally, the Money putter is available. We have only blue and yellow
as the red run did not pass the QC test. The red run will go after the
first run on the Gamma Ray is complete. This disc is a chain grabbing
devise. It will suit you well for your up shots. The disc is soft, but
not super soft. It will ding up as non top price plastic will. I still
can not get any of mine to turn over. I love this about the Money
putter. It keeps holding its line.

I hope you are all having a great start to the disc golf season. I am
offering the First Runs of disc to the folks on the list through Pay
pal. Otherwise, please get the attention of your local dealer that you
desire ABC Discs. We will get it our these!

Have a great day! Practice your putting!

PDGA Approval

Played on the same card as Dan Pastore's son at the GMO on sunday, and Dan ininformed us that the Money putter, Flying Squirrel, and Secret Weapon all were PDGA approved the night before. The Screamer did not.

His son used all the discs in the tourney. I threw both flying squirrel and secret weapon, and picked up a few of each from him. Both understable with great glide, but they hold a nice straight line with a little hyzer, as advertised. Both are in a clear champion-like plastic, but a little more grippy.

The flying squirrel was a little more floppy, but not as much as Cryztal-Z or FLX plastic.

I liked both discs enough to buy them, and im excited to field test them more this week and get used to using them.

Also, the only colors they came in were clear, but Dan said runs of the company colors of yellow blue and red were to follow.

His teenage son shot pretty darn well with the discs, and after throwing them i can vouch for their quality. Tough plastic, easy to throw.

I agree about hte flying squirrel making a great first disc for newbs.

Ill try to post further findings up here as i use my secret weapon and flying squirrel more.

Another newsletter this weekend:

We finally have our first run Missions and Flying Squirrels available.
The Secret Weapons were made but were made too heavy. They actually
fly nice, but do not fit the standards set down from the PDGA. All the
first runs are once again in the company colors of red, yellow and
blue. They are all marked First Run. They also vary in weights as the
majority of our pre first runs were of the same weight.

More great news, we have molded our first wide rimmed discs. One will
be the new Gamma Ray as the first was too stable to be called our
Straight driver. The other is unnamed, but will be soon thanks to all
the responses from our name that disc contest. In between rounds at
the Channahon tournament, people were throwing these bad boys over 500
feet! They both will need some refinement as they are overweight. A
second top plate is being made to trim some grams off the rim.

Has anyone given the lot a thorough sampling yet?

I replaced the Wizard and Roc in my bag with an ABC Discs Money and Mission and never looked back. The Secret Weapon has become my driver of choice and I use the Flying Squirrel to drive lefty. The Gamma Ray went far until user error put it into a lake.

New ABC molds not approved... retooling.

From the ABC mailing list... Dan sure is one heck of an honest business man. I wonder how often this stuff happens to other manufacturers?

Baseball they say is a game of inches. Sometimes, the same goes for
our game of disc golf. You can hit of miss a tree by an inch giving
you a great shot or terrible lie. You can be an inch in bounds or out
of bounds greatly changing your mood and score. You can be an inch
above or below the basket either making a nice putt or missing an easy
one. But do millimeters really make a difference?

Millimeters really do make a difference in the design and flight path
or our discs. In making the Bee Line and Gamma, both of these discs
missed passing the test by one millimeter. The area that flunked was
the vertical inside of the rim from the bottom to the top. We are
allowed from 5-12 percent of the diameter of the disc. I did not
understand this. The biggest disappointment is that the discs flew
wonderfully. The buzz was building for the release date. Then I got
the news from Jeff that they did not pass the test. Adding the
millimeter to the Bee Line changed it from a super long flying
understable disc to a super stable long flying disc. It is a great
disc, just not what the Bee Line was meant to be. The Gamma went from
a straight flyer to a very stable disc. It actually would not pass as
the leading edge is too small.

Life often times throws you a curve ball (following the baseball
theme), in which case the plan must be changed. We need to do a few
minor changes to the Bee Line which will now be called the Screamer.
We have had trouble getting the Screamer done correctly. This new Bee
Line flies exactly how the Screamer should fly. This will be a great
disc for windy days and right to left shots (for the right handed
player).

My apologies to all those whom were waiting anxiously for the two
discs to be released. No one is more disappointed than myself. We will
continue to do what is needed to make the highest quality discs.
Thanks to all of you for your support and patience. We will get it
done right. Quality discs will never be compromised!

Have a terrific day! Practice your putting!

if you have never had the chance to meet Dan you should. he is an AWEOME person and the discs he is putting out are crazy. the flying squirrel has such a unique flight, i will be adding one to my bag, not sure how i will use it but with that flight path i will find a use. my buddy is sponsored by the, so ive had the luxury of throwing several of their test molds and their full line up. the secret weapon is also a really nice disc. not sure how to describe its flight either. its stable but its understable not really sure how to describe it past that. for instance i threw it into a R>L headwind yday, it flew dead straight for 50% of its flight and then slowly pulled to the right while remaining near flat throughout the flight. with no effort it went about 280-300.

if you get the chance try out ABC discs!

I talked to Dan at the Moraine Challenge in Valpo, and I asked him why he didn't make anything that flew stable (I'd only thrown the secret weapon and flying squirrel). He pulls a brand new gamma ray out of his bin and tells me its a great stable driver. He tells me to give it a toss. Not wanting to damage it, I throw it at like 50%-60% power so it lands in the grass in front of me. He laughs, hands me another and says, "come on now, get on this one, really throw it." So I really lay into it, and man did that thing bomb, I threw it out over the grass, and down the hill onto the pavement at the bottom. I turn and say, "sorry, I probably just dinged that up on you." He smiles and says, "no, I'm sorry, I had no idea you could throw that far."

Much thanks!

Much thanks for the kind words. I try and do what is right. I certainly blow it sometimes. Heck, I overlooked an email from Dave Walters. :( I do not like doing that at all. Hope all are well and you are ready for a fun summer of disc golfing, laughs and good cheer.

Have a wonderful day. Please practice your putting!

They flying squirrel is awesome. I swear it has negative lss. You can do so many crazy things with that disc that you shouldn't be able to do.

much like champ plastic. For me ABC had great consistent discs, but they all flew just a little shorter than their Innova counterparts

I did a comparison somewhere else:

Money putter = Magic
Flying Squirrel = Fuse
Secret Weapon = Leopard
Gamma Ray = Predator/ Firebird
Mission = Roc that feels like a gator.
