Has Will Schusterick peaked?

OMG a few pixels which MIGHT be part of female anatomy seen through a piece of clothing

You know theres porn on the internet, right? I wont tell you where, youll have to find it on your own.

oh sure, the Finnish guy knows where it's at. we Americans simply aren't involved in that stuff on any level.....

Not sure what you all got going on in Finland but over here in the States men have butts too. Heaven forbid we catch a short glimpse of his wife's butt in a swimsuit next to a waterfall from far away. Shame on you Will.

Congrats to Will and Latricia!

I was just kidding that DG should come before romance. I'm sure for some people it will, but for most people there will come a time to figure out how to settle down and have a family, and activities that don't pay the bills, like Disc Golf, may suffer. Don't see anything wrong with that. Maybe Will will have a come back once he has gone through making babies, and hits Mid-life crisis and disillusionment stage, if not before.

Gratz also to Avery and his new wife.

Nate and Valerie are pretty darn lucky to have each other, with Pro level DG in common.

All I know is that if he stays healthy, Will Schusterick is going to be a great disc golfer for many years to come.

Will's PDGA earnings the last 5 years:

2012: 39k 38 tournaments played.
2013: 34k 35 tournaments played.
2014: 28k 34 tournaments played.
2015: 32k 30 tournaments played.
2016: 16k 31 tournaments played.

His number of tournaments in the past didn't change drastically but his earnings (and his rating) took a dive in 2016. Granted his personal life changed forever when he got married in 2016, so I'm sure that factored into his mental state on and off the course. He has played in 3 tournaments this year and only has 5 more in the books so far. Maybe he's at a point where quality > quantity.

Perhaps things have stabled out a bit for Will now. After 2017 is in the books, we'll have actual evidence to conclude if Will has indeed peaked or not. ;)

It looks like he has plateaued and has a few things to figure out with his putting. There is a group of players (Wysocki, McBeth, Eagle and others at times) who make others' 1000-1050 golf look amateur. Will has shown the ability to hang with these guys, except, as of late, with the putter

Agree 100%.

I saw a post from when this thread was new questioning how being married would eat into his disc golf time since that is his living. first of all disc golf even being the top dude wont make you rich 39,000 a year is a living but in the greater Nashville area its really not. That was the peak and that is being gone more than half of the weekends a year... he was home/ not playing somewhere else/ 21 weeks last year for $16,000, I don't care who you are that is some serious strain on a relationship. I know there is extra sponsor dollars and clinics and that sort of thing but I do not think its very much. so from a relationship perspective think about you S/O how do you think he/she would feel lf the ROI on what you did as a "job" only came when you are literally gone every wed - sun. I don't blame him at all, and I wish him all the best I would think that he is playing but not touring which makes sense if you aren't going to be the best. because even the best aren't really killing it financially for the work put in. Money isn't everything but its important if you want to live any sort of real life when you are no longer on top.

McBeth being the exception -- $300k/yr isn't chump change.

I don't believe that even mcbeth is pulling down $300k a year I think he is making a good amount of money but not 300k on a consistent basis at least. Also he can be removed from any data set as an outlier.

From another thread:

Paul does pretty well for himself. A lot better than you're guessing.

I bet it's 99.99% compared to disc golfers. He's a 1% in the general population.

There's no way he is a one percenter.....do you guys really think he is profiting 450k a year? I would be shocked if he even makes 150k and that's before all of his expenses.

I hope you're sitting down.

He makes well over double your shocked number. Closer to the 1% cutoff. I honestly wish it was public knowledge. I think it would help legitimize our sport, and attract more people to the game. Sorry for blabbing Paul if you read this :p

My taxes were over 6 figures one year but that was because I had a good year/ bonuses/ many sponsors and not spending much money.

There is money in our sport but you need to WORK for it. I could sit around and just play disc golf and finish well and get by but that's not a goal. I want to make 7 figures through disc golf, I want to retire with disc golf, I want to own my own course one day, I want to teach disc golf one day, I want my family to be comfortable one day. I have dreams I have big dreams, I'm willing to work 24hrs a day to accomplish these dreams. These players don't truly understand, they are whining rather than taking responsibity and making their light. The McBeast Diaries, Champs vs Chumps, Eras Challenge..... those don't happen by accident. They were never funded they were ideas started from scratch to help promote Disc Golf, Players, Companies, Courses.... the list goes on and on. I enjoy those things because I know people love entertaining disc golf. I make myself available as much as possible for the public, for sponsors, for events but I do it because I have dreams not because I feel privledged or because I feel I deserve this or I deserve that. I work for what I have and I work HARD for what I have.

I didn't post to brag, Ian knows quite a bit about me because he is one of the few in this sport who has worked for what they have as well as Jomez and they make themselves available to the players and public.

Honestly these are the ones who should be making $ because with better equipment and better production that means more eyes on the players which mean more $ to them in sponsorship and sales. It's a chain of supportive and hard working people who will make this sport successful not whiners and "the privledged"

yeah so one year he made over six figures, I would say that would be the year he made 70k in tournament winnings. one year of six figure income doesn't mean 300k a year.

anyway my point was that peak or not Will, since he doesn't seem to be in the discussion of best disc golfers in the world is looking at his career from a financial move, "will I make enough to live and will the work/life balance be such that I can sustain a marriage?" if he's not then he should work on his short game as that seems to be the separator at the top. I was commenting on what a poster had said back in June or July and saying that disc golf like all travel jobs is a strain on a marriage especially if the money isn't there. Sure Paul making 100k a year is a very great income, so his travel schedule could be more easily justified to a S/O.
