no and yes.

it's buttery soft plastic (vs. modern dx which is plasticky) and beats in nicely...

Apdrvya,
Thank you, much appreciated, that's what I was looking for. Is older DX more durable or grippy? For the record, I tried to search for info but couldn't find any.

Old dx XDs do beat in nicely, all I would add to this is to remember even back then each run of dx plastic came out a little different than the run before it. Sometimes that difference was dramatic, sometimes not as much.

I own XDs from 1985 thru about 1992, they are all dx but not all the same. :)

Apdrvya and J dub,
You guys have been super helpful answering all of my questions, we need a "thanks" button around here. I really want to try an older one now. Appreciate it.

So a guy I played with the other day had a super huge lid type disc, that had an old Champion Proto Stamp, the four stars and the word champion discs. It was DX plastic, the guy said it was pretty old, the markings on the underside were gone. Anybody have any ideas.

Could have been a birdie as well those can look big if you aren't used to seeing them. Especially the ones without a thumtrac which a proto would be.

Any idea of what this disc is? I won it in a ctp last year and was told it was some kind of proto Gateway disc. I just don't remember which one and i'm not very familiar with their plastic. Thanks for any help.

just cant figure it out

Got this from a friend, don't know what it is at all. Has the feel/flight similar to a tee bird but the rim isn't slightly concave like my other teebird..... any help would be greatly appreciated. And even the story of how old this bad boy could be if anyone is familiar with the tourney stamp.

The plastic also has a beautiful glow around the rim and swirlies of red through it. Something i haven't seen often in new champ plastic. (btw i didn't show the back but it is innova)

Mark knows this stuff better than anyone. If he said it was from '03-'04, it's from '03-'04.
