Recently due to a shoulder injury I've been using only 3 discs,but in different variations.Each type of plastic has it stages of wear and comes in handy to learn a discs flight
The three I would choose for a beginner and experienced player would be these.
Innova Teebird - Champion,Star and DX
Discraft Comet - Elite Z and Elite X
Innova KC Pro Aviar - newish,beat and beat to death.
It's actually quite fun to disc down and only use 3 or 4 discs.You shake some bad mojo off,if you have any,and when you get back to throwing in your other drivers, the results are usually pretty amazing.

Innova blizzard champ 150g wraith
Discraft ESP flx buzz 172g
Gateway super stupid soft wizard 175g
If I needed three discs and only three discs these would be them very easy to throw putter sticks right into chains and buzz will hold any line and blizzard champions are the easiest discs to throw far.
