The Dye A Day Thread!

I am SO not an artist. Dan Howard? artist. Me? I'm more of a graphics transfer technique specialist...I'm not very good at makin' my own **** up....

Definitely same here, I'm lucky I have a talented vinyl guy I can sit with and throw ideas at and he can make them happen for me.

I've noticed it's really been slow here the last few days, so I tried my first shaving cream dye last night and I was hoping to have something cool to show this morning, but my result is so hideodorous that I'm not going to post it. And I had an idea that I wanted to try that was going to be phase 2 on the disc, but this one is so ugly that I think I'll just try to salvage it with a cut dye over it. Dan, I love your work even more now that I've tried it, and failed.

I threw this on 'cause it made me chuckle, and sometimes on the course, I need a good laugh!

Post it, man. I used the plastic bag technique and wasn't very happy with the results. That makes me scared to try the shaving cream technique and maybe we can learn something from your mess up?

Believe it or not, one of the hardest damn dyes for me to date. That font is the worst for weeding! I ended up cutting it three times, in the end finally I bumped the font size to be as big as possible, and doing it in an outline. Not including, considering who it is for and the value of the disc, I was under pressure to get this right with no bleeds.

well, i guess every dye is a learning experience... so bumming:(- had the "background" the perfect night sky shade with diluted navy, and since it's darker than the kelly green, i thought that the green would maybe just darken it just a little... but overall pretty happy. will do it different next time.

*sigh* Y'know what I hate? When half the s$#t you do doesn't end up working out...for example, there's 4 different colors of dye on this disc...bet you can't tell me which ones! Just goes to show you. No matter where she is, next to Joker, or on a Jokeri, Harley Quinn is a b*&*h.

This blue is on there...

It's actually teal...but I left it on for a few minutes too long...
And once again, let's just re-iterate our hatred for discraft stamps! I hate Discraft's Black Stamps!

Atlas Shrugging nothing?
IMG_0248.JPG

I could've designed this better, rushed it through and it shows; the little red square. Guh....
The gradient on the red was a happy surprise, though, that makes this dye tolerable to look at.
I haven't read Atlas Shrugged but my friend, who is receiving this Star TL, loves it.
I hope he loves throwing it, too.

Well, there's no such thing as white dye, unfortunately. Tan, golden yellow, and teal. but couldn't get any of the last three to stick. Wasn't using dips, because of the small areas, I'm gonna try some more tomorrow, unless you want me to just send it out in the morning. The blue is for her eye, the yellow/tan is for her skin. It's an acetone/dye mixture that works at lower temps, for smaller areas/painting on, but I guess I didn't have the temp right. Need to sleep now though...spent too much time dyeing today

Theres just stuff that didn't work out, like the controlled red bleeds on her cheek and breasts to give her some more skin color. I thought of trying the bleeds to shade the lower skirt, but I had already dipped the red by then, so it was too late.. Oh well...

I like it! You weren't planning on the gradient I take it, but what did you do to achieve this?

My Neighbor did this one for me tonight. I think it turned out awesome, especially since it was the first multi color one he did.

I want to start doing the WWII Nose art on the planes. This isnt really old WWII stuff but thought it was really cool, I think it turned out nice with the dark purple made with Royal Blue, Scarlet and a little Black.
