The wind was insane on hole #4. It looked like a force field was repeatedly throwing Jussi's putts out of the basket. Nice touch showing his long putt from the previous day.

I rather enjoyed watching a pro player celebrate making a 10' putt like he won the World Cup. Does that make me a bad person?

No it doesn't. :lol: The guys were talking it being a ridiculous weather for throwing and contemplating on DNFfing. And i agreed. It was difficult to keep the camera steady when it wasn't just the camera that was being pushed and pulled by the changing wind speeds. I too was knocked about by the wind and you can see it in the footage. The guy celebrating won his junior division in the Finnish Championships last year so yeah pro caliber.

That's my home course, and it is very common to have a lot of wind there Ok, maybe the day was slightly windier than average

Actually on Saturday I was thinking that where's the wind we usually have. People won't get the full Meri-Toppila experience without the wind. Then Sunday delivered.

The sea will do that to you. Juho Parviainen (Big D8 second place) commented something about normituuli or norm wind. He made many laser line no drop in height Firebird putts into stiff winds headwinds included. Some putts were from very long ranges. It was that bad.

On Jussi's first putt (at 5:50) I went, "oh no." On his second putt I yelled "OH MY GOD!" That was aweful.

Just had to say, that this course is beautiful. Love the rolling hills, the trees, the ocean/bay in the background, just a really special place to play ... lots of great holes with utilize the terrain exceptionally well.

The only hole that seems to be out of character is the left-hand dogleg (after the second short downhill into the woods) ... that hole reminds me of many holes here in New England ... tight, lots of scraggy undergrowth, and treacherous if you get off the fairway.

I loved the beauty of the course as well it was really nice to be there. The FO happened soon after The SO which was also a beautiful place. Järva wasn't a new course to me but it's always nice to return to Stockholm because that's a beautiful course as well. Dutch Open 2010 was in a beautiful park but it was so early in the spring that there weren't many leaves in the trees so it wasn't as pretty as it must be in the summer and it was overcast most of the time. Last year was great for eye candy and it is a joy to be in so beautiful courses. Visual beauty of a course counts.

How the hell do you guys play in wind like that? Jussi's 2nd putt on hole 4 looks like an optical illusion when it comes back at him. :shock: Nice work as always on the videos. We need you guys filming over here 8)

I was afraid that some of the players would DNF but luckily it didn't happen. Disc selection and knowledge of how they behave differently in the wind is a must for this kind of situation and bringing along wind beating discs. The usual tricks are to avoid throwing high and putting with the disc upside down. Also putting flat will help and so does putting with drivers. Also if you can get the disc to fly just above the bucket the disc is less likely to get blown out by the wind.
