Fun course to play over and over. Concrete tee pads and multiple placements at each hole. Access to bathrooms. Good signage supplied by The Auburn Chain Zombies. Both wooded technical and open big arm holes. Has a nice wooded area half way through the course to take a break. A few shots over water features.

Can be crowded at times where you play through or others play through you. You may have to ask where to go if you have never played the course for a few tees are far apart and it could get confusing. They took the coolest shot of over the pond and around the mando of the oak tree out of the course. Many tournaments played here and you may not be able to get on the course at times. There is limited parking so you may have to park a little walk away.

-Very technical and demanding course

-Good mixture of woodsy, slight woodsy, open, uphill and downhill shots

-All holes have a basket position indicators near the tee pad

-Bathrooms and a working water fountain

-Beverage vending machines

-Nice, woodsy practice putting area

-If you like mild hiking, then you'll love the first 7 holes and 14, 15, 16 and 17

-Trees provide a lot of shade, so you play a round comfortably, even on a scorcher of a day

-Not a beginner level course

-Holes 6, 12, 14, 15 and 17 don't have signs

-If you do not like mild hiking, then the first 7 holes may not be to your liking

-Foot traffic on walking path can cause delays on holes 1, 4, 8-12 and 14

A few holes require distance, but the remaining holes will challenge how well you manage the course and your mental approach to each hole. Beware of bird and droppings on the more open holes, 8-13.

Hole 2 usually is a spike hyzer shot.

Hole 4 is a textbook definition of a hallway shot.

Hole 5 has a mando to the left of the tree with caution tape.

Longer basket positions on 13 may require the use of a roller

Auburn Regional Park is a large sprawling park with all the usual attractions. The course parking is right next to the nicest Boce courts I've ever seen. I started the round playing by myself but following a couple of locals. The tee signs with their advertising were fairly hard for me to decipher. The course features nice big, grippy concrete pads but older baskets. The terrain is varied with a canopy of trees providing some much needed shade on this hot summer day. There are 4,5 and even 6 basket positions for each hole. The problem is, there is no way of telling which position the basket is on any particular day. This course could definitely use the A-B-C-D washer system that Penn Valley and other neighboring courses have in place. There are are benches and garbage cans at every tee area and the course was virtually litter free.
With the baskets all seemingly in the longest positions, this course was certainly a challenge today.

The lack of a system informing players of the basket location is a big one to me. With up to six locations on some holes, it's nice to know the distance and general area of the basket, especially when playing solo. The general navigation aids could have been more helpful. Luckily, I hooked up with the locals around hole 5 and they guided me through the remainder of the course.

In general, Auburn Regional is just a really solid, enjoyable course. It probably lacks the elevation and Wow factor to rate it any higher but I think the local club is doing an excellent job in maintaining this course and providing some great disc golf enjoyment for the players in this area. Most anyone would be happy to have this as their home course.

Auburn is a large course spread out over a park. There are many obstacles to throw over under and through. In a round you throw over a few creeks, through some wild growing trees, and before they moved the tee for hole 14 you could throw over the main pond itself. Hours of fun can be had here because the course is updated regularly and the Pin positions are changed on an almost daily basis. All in all it is a fun course and in my opinion one of the top 5 in Northern California.

It is hard to find anything wrong with this course. The only thing I would change is bring back "The Pond Hole". "The Pond Hole" was a 300ft. par 3 that had a tee pad next to the water and a huge oak tree to throw around in front of you. You would have to have a mean right hook to even make it to the other shore side let alone the other 150ft to the hole. Hole 14, aka "The Pond Hole" was one of the reasons many people first came to this course and I think it would be in their benefit to try and bring that wonder back for us.

From beginer to pro Auburn is a great place to grow.

Large and spreadout course in a developed regional park, with lots of variety of terrain and surroundings from hole-to-hole. The mature trees and bushy tunnel shots force you to be accurate. The grounds are as beautifully maintained as they say it is. The layout does a nice job of staying clear of joggers, kids, and picnic'rs.

Amply irrigated park collects muddy puddles around the teeboxes and baskets, even in the heat of summer. Printout of map is recommended for 1st timers, as layout can be confusing at times.

Strong sense of local disc golf community there ranging in all ages and demographics.

My favorite course

This course is excellent for a number of reasons:
-Beautiful, well maintained public park, with a maintenance crew that takes pride in keeping the course looking and playing well.
-Great variety of shots. Makes you throw every type of shot possible. Tight wooded fairways, elevation changes, tight downhill rollers, open grassy areas for long rollers, water hazard holes, a couple shot shaping mando's, spike hyzers, overhands.
-Awesome local club, the Chain Zombies. They run great weekly events, doubles on tuesdays, divisional singles on thursdays. Good payouts with ctp and ace pots. Great turnout every week, expect up to 60 people.
-Large teepads. Great for big runups on longer holes or for getting the right angle off the box.
-Garbage cans and benches on nearly every hole.
-Friendly locals, easy to find a helping hand to help navigate the course or find a lost disc.
-Multiple pin positions on every hole, some holes have as many as 6, ranging from relatively easy to insanely long for the pros. Rotated frequently for weekly play.
-Usually uncrowded. You'll run across the inevitable group of 6 playing a slow round from time to time, but for the most part the course is wide open.
-New tee signs have satellite photo maps showing terrain and pin positions.

-Walking paths do cause some delays, but most folks are aware of the course and will wait for you to throw before walking across.
-Fairways for 12 and 13 cross each other, but as the 2 longest holes on the course, it doesn't cause many problems.

Overall, one of the best courses in the area IMO. Great variety of shots and hole types, good for beginners and pros alike. Friendly locals in a family friendly setting, great place to spend the whole day and get a couple rounds in. Also close to Condon and Penn Valley if you're in the mood for a day loop. Definitely worth a play if you're in the area. My personal favorite holes are: 5 (long downhill through an early mando, either plays straight to a downhill ledge, or to the right, perfect for a roller), 12 (long double uphill hole, drive has to pass under a tall tree but over the first hill, makes for a tight window to get the distance you need. New pro pin position plays over 700 feet past the tennis courts), 14 (next to the pond, plays through a tight tree window into an elevated opening, good drives can skip into blackberries on the right and left), 16 (technical line off the tee pad, avoid a gnarled tree just in front of you to a wide fairway with a creek and blackberries on the right, deep pin position plays across the creek in a tight grove of trees), and 18 (straight, low tunnel shot towards the tennis courts, deep position plays to the side of the hill and is blind from the teepad).

-Great variety of shots from tight trees to open fairways. A couple down hill shots, a couple up hill shots, a tight downhill tunnel shot(4), a few wide open holes(11-13), water in play on holes 4,7,13 and 14. Tight tree tunnel holes on 15-17.
-Good mix of distances from short 200's to over 500' holes.
-Nice setting in a park.
-A couple holes play around a pond.
-New tee signs with distances added recently.
-New teepads have been poured on holes 4, 14, 15 and 17.
-Lots of clearing of bushes and blackberry on holes 14-17.
-Several holes you can start on if 1 is backed up.
-Lots of parking.
-Plays on mowed grass on several holes.

Walking paths wind threw the course on holes 4,5, 8-14 and can interupt play and be hazardous to other park patrons.
Long walk from hole 13 to 14.
Course can be swampy in places in the winter and spring.
Blackberry patch on the right side of hole 17 is VERY unforgiving!
Lots of geese around the pond, so there can be a lot of poop in the area.
No drinkable water/water fountains in the whole park!

Love this course for its mix of shots, hard to find this variety in most courses. Lots of work has been put into the course in the past year, new tee signs, new pads, new pin locations, clearing on holes 14-17. This course keeps getting better. A couple years ago I would have rated it a 3, now its a strong 4.

Just watch out not to hit other park go'ers when playing arround the walkways.

Play the Auburn am or pro tourney in April if you get the chance, great event. They add 4 alternate holes that make the course even better!

-Beautiful setting for a disc golf course. Plenty of trees on most holes with a few wide open fairways peppered in. Uphill and downhill.
-One of the cleanest busy parks I have visited. No trash to be found. I don't know who is maintaining this park/course, but they're doing a hell of a good job.
-Nether lefty nor righty friendly. Everyone has to work at Auburn.
-Danger. A stream teases the basket on hole 4 and 7. 14 is a tricky lake shot (trickiness compounded by the fence erected to the right of the walking path). Bring your retriever.
-Grippy, clean concrete tees.
-Free parking, and plenty of it.
-Practice basket, for your putting pleasure.
-Most tee areas have a bench.
-Regularly rotated baskets, which are in great condition.
-FREE!

-Absent tee signs on a few holes.
-Navigation is a pain. Bring a map and/or a guide.
-Hole 14 uses the same space as a LOT of walkers. The good news is they're incredibly friendly and aware of the course. The bad news is there are a lot of them. Plan on a long wait to tee off. (Oh, to have the tee for 14 be on that little peninsula that jets off into the lake....)

Great course. Plenty of shade to keep golfers cool on those warm norcal days. Plenty of signature holes. I think hole 1 would have to be my fave. A controlled, long downhill shot past a few layers of trees to a basket nestled into a rock and dirt bowl. Auburn has an excellent balance of all design elements.
We did, however, have to wait upwards of 10 minutes to tee off on 14 on more than one occasion. That hole is pretty cool, but it is a safety/course congestion issue that is pretty glaring. I dinged Auburn a disc mainly for that, and because it lacked signage on a few holes. Auburn could also help us out-of- towners out with "next tee ----->" signs. I had a guide and am VERY glad I did.
If you're in the area, Auburn is a must-play course. Hell if you aren't it's a solid option as a destination course. Either way, get out there and enjoy one of the most serene, mellow courses California has to offer!

If you can follow a local group great if not here is the scoop.
-Hole#1 starts against the tennis courts and heads down the hill towards the rocks.
-Hole#2 tee pad is directcly to the left of #1 basket and you throw down the hill or over the trees.
-Hole#3 is starts atthe bottom of the hill and the basket is a short toss towards the picnic area.
-Hole#4 the basket is down hill towards the rock and wooded bridge area.
-Hole#5 is across. the wood bridge and up the path.
-Hole #6 is thrown back towards the wood bridge.
-Hole#7-teepad is located just across the wood bridge left of the path.
-Hole#8-13 are zig zagged.
-Hole#14 is around the pond and teepad is just past the courts you drive towards the corner of the pond just over the path.
-Hole #15-18 are tucked to the right of the pond.
Overall this course is far better than lets say the other courses that are 13.6 and 18.9 miles away.
he dog walkers are privy to the game and courteous to DGr's.

Felt like you were not in a community park for many of the holes and the water was a nice touch!

Still in a community park so you have to be careful about the people around you. Some of the holes are next to or cross pathways that are frequently used.

I liked this course very much and will be back to play.
I took my dog and played with him on a leash and had a great time!

Nice mix of open shots and obstructed; slight elevation changes; and water hazards. Traffic was minimal on a gorgeous Saturday. Not nearly as busy as other local courses in Grass Valley and Penn Valley. Clean park; easy parking near first tee. I'll be back!

Tough to navigate; especially the final few holes. Following a local group is highly recommended for your initial round. Forget about rollers in the grass, it's thick!

Teenagers being teenagers on the course, playing hackysack; hanging out; and leaving a pungent aroma in their wake! Mormons could be shocked, but disc golfers won't!

Plenty of tunnels through the trees, wonderful creeks, well maintained. full 18 holes, lots of shade, benches at 10 of the 18 teepads. uptodate signs at most pins now, construction is done. visualy pleasing the whole way through.

Trickey to navigate the first time, some blackberrys that can eat your disc on 7,15-17 fairways cross main pedestrian traffic

Find a map, or bring a friend that has played it... or dont forget that AFTER hole 4, go left and cross the bridge up to the hill, after 7 double back acrost the bridge. to a teepad on the left of the path. last tricky one is hole 14, which is acrost the pond, walk around the lake counter clockwise, youll come to a tee on the left near the soccer field/basketball court.

nice park - well maintained - nicely wooded - technical course for most holes. cool atmosphere, lots of different animals around the park. looks like some holes have been moved around, hole 18 is now 13.

a couple tees only have squares on the pavement - hard to navigate first couple times - not all holes have a sign telling you which hole they are or where the pins are. maybe walk the course first or bring someone who has played this course before.

i really enjoy playing this course. i would almost rather make the drive a few more miles to play auburn over other local courses. watch out for out of bounds left on hole 14!

This course is biking distance from my house and i have been playing for not a super long time. myself and my friend jake are out here nearly everyday. it is wooded which is the main challenge. sometimes the trees are in better moods than others haha. it is well spread out. estimated two mile walk around. you do have some company but it is not usually to busy. the locals are quite-*ahem* high on life......... but people are helpful and quite friendly. you really should never have any issues with us. haha. people are not pushy either which is a good thing i think as i just come for the fun and golf...not the extracurricular "activities" this is my home course, the only one i have ever played and it is a fantastic way to have a great time with friends and get excercise in a beautiful spread out green challenging, differentiating, course,

holes can be somewhat difficult to find and move around some which can be a positive. some of the activities around the area extend "beyond the legal realm..."

my home course, only one i have ever played on, tournaments twice a week, a great time highly reccomended and will probably see you guys out there!

Distance shots with control required, great for both pros and intermediate. A little of everything.

You have to walk all the way behind the duck pond to find the back course which starts on the walk way, so don't miss it.
