Pros:
Very well maintained
Not a brutal walk, holes are all reasonably close to each other but not on top of each other for the most part
The newer tees are in good shape
Cons:
You're at a state park famous for its lake, but you never see it.
There's kind of an endless sameness to each hole. Hit a very small tunnel, or bounce sideways into the thorns.
Other Thoughts:
Hole 1 kind of typifies your round. You could play just that hole and know that you haven't missed anything else. You start with a narrow opening with trees right in front of you, and play to a basket 300 feet away that also has trees right in front of it.
This is the type of course that rewards the golfer content to throw it 225 feet, dead straight, all day. The par 4s are not long, you can reach them all with a couple of straight shots.
The par 3s mostly try to goad you into doing something stupid, like go for the park job, but once again, if you just throw it 225 feet, dead straight, you'll be much happier.
There's no real variety to speak of, just straight tunnels with overhanging branches or tree trunks in your way, all day. The average golfer can play safe shots and make pars. It's only once you start going for the hero shots that you find yourself in a lot of trouble.
It's a pleasant walk though, if you stay out of the briars. The tees are new....they could have been a bit larger though. If you're used to a bigger tee pad, these will be a bit uncomfortable.
It's worth checking out, but the Red and Purple courses are much prettier, with nicer views and more opportunity to throw longer shots.
