Bugs 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 21, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Some difficult shots. Hole #9 in particular requires an interesting uphill shot through the forest. Nice tees and good signage, easy enough to navigate around.

Cons:

Very easy to lose discs, one of mine skipped off the fairway just a few feet into the rough and spent 15 minutes looking for it. There are so many bugs here, make sure to bring bug spray. The course is very short and most holes are very similar. The rough is very thick and it's difficult to find errant drives. This course could use much more diversity, there is definately space to have 1 or 2 bombing holes, and the creek is not used at all which is very dissappointing.

Other Thoughts:

This could've been a much better course, it probably took 5 mins to plan thjs one out. A small creek that runs through the park would have added an interesting element. Most holes are pretty much the same, with fairways carved out through the woods. Some diversity and added length would make this course decent. There is also room to expand it to 18 holes which, if designed correctly, could greatly improve the experience.

Poor Design 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Tee Pads-Nice rubber tee pads.
Baskets-Brand New Mach 5
Tee Signs-Nice
Hole #7 is a pretty nice hole.

Cons:

The course designers lack of knowledge really shows on this course.

The land had potential to be a solid advanced level 9 hole course with the heavy rough, trees, and minor elevation. The distances and shot selection are novice to recreational level. The new players are going to hate this course with the heavy rough. More skilled players will not be challenged here. There is a super beginner friendly course in Mundelein 2 miles away so there was no reason for another novice friendly course on this land.

There are several holes such as #2, 8, & 9 where the designer does not understand flight characteristics of discs. Instead of having some fun areas to throw quality shots you have to throw some type of junk shot.

Hole #6 Tee pad is about 35ft directly behind the basket to #3.

Hole #6 Tee throws right back towards #5's basket.

Overall the holes are very repetitve and short.

Other Thoughts:

In the warmer monthes bring bug spray. The skeeters are fierce!!

Park at the very back end of the parking lot and walk down the edge of the football field. That is the shortest distance to hole #1

It's a good place to bring putters and mid ranges for practice. Alternate holes and Safari golf is also good here.
