Overall, Diamond Lake Sloughs is nothing to write home about, but provides a nice short line shaping course for a mid-level player. As others have said, a seasoned veteran will likely tear this course up, and beginners will likely be frustrated with the heavy brush and the high probability of losing a disc in it. It provides some interesting hole design and is the closest thing to a wooded course in the Chicagoland area that I have seen. The minor elevation adds to the interest, especially given the surrounding area. The course has all the disc golf amenities we come to expect in good teepads, signs, baskets, and facilities on site. Some lengthened teepads and a little more variety in the hole design could bump this course up to a 3 or 3.5. I have found the best time to play this course is in the early spring, before the rough grows to thick and before the mosquitoes are out. If you chose to play in the middle of summer those two factors alone will be nuisance enough to ruin your round.

Some elevation: they made good use of the land for being a mostly flat area.
Good variety of shots (but not distance): this is one of the few courses I've played where most holes go to the right. I enjoyed this especially on hole 8 which is a 300' (the longest hole sadlly) dogleg right. There is a small gap that you have to hit like 20 feet wide and you cannot even see it from the tee! Other cool holes include 6, 7, and 9. 6 is a left to right hole with trees blocking the straight shot. I like throwing a huge anny mid range here. 7 is cool because the first 200' or so is open and then to get the basket you need to hit a 10' gap or so and have enough on the shot to slide up to the elevated basket. 9 is a huge uphill right to left which makes a hyzer shot doable but it is a pretty sharp turn. I imagine this shot would be a lot harder in the summer with all the leaves grown in, blocking the sharper route.

SHORT: longest hole is 300' and that is a dogleg not straight. Most holes are around 250'. I throw a mid or putter on every hole except 7, the 300 dogleg right.

Not a biggie but the first hole is a few minute walk from the parking lot. Thorns and other rough can be brutal in the summer. Bugs are bad in the summer too. In the colder months none of those things are an issue though.

Design flaw: you shoot over basket 5 on your 6th tee shot. Also, 6's tee is only 30 feet or so beyond 3's basket, watch out for errant drives.

Park as far back as you can and walk along the woods with the football field on your left to get to the first tee the quickest.

There is tons of more room here to make this 18 or even more.

The day that we played it (harr0140 and I) the main gate to the park was closed.
We followed the GPS coordinates on this site and they led us to a house on the back side with a "path" (well worn grass) next to the construction permit sign...follow that path and it leads to a dirt road that goes right to the basket for 8 and tee off for 9. We started at 9...then turn right on the big path after 9 and it takes you to the tee for 1.
Not sure where you would park if you went in the main gate...but we assumed there was signage.
even though it was a small course, I really enjoyed it because it forced you to focus on every throw on every hole.
I would HIGHLY suggest playing with another person so you could have a spotter...I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much by myself.

Tip: if you can find a playing partner who is a landscaping expert it really helps...harr0140 could find any of my errant throws super fast, while I was wandering around in the brush with no perspective of where my disc landed
