Setting, setting, setting. This course is south of I-70/Grand Junction, Colorado, about 45 miles. The drive alone is worth the cost of admission, which, at the time I write this, is FREE. Route 141 is one of the prettiest, most scenic drives you will make in your life. The course, and resort, are nestled in one of the prettiest canyonlands settings I have ever seen... ass-kickingly jaw-dropping stunning. Link up by continuing on with a scenic loop-drive south toward Montrose, take the dirt cut-off canyon road to Bedrock, then through LaSal UT to Moab, in either late April/May, or October, and count your lucky stars that you could do itl. Bring a mountain and road bike, hiking boots, fly-rod, and plenny water and cash to buy all the great local beer and food. Course: Cottonwood bottom, great map at entry, LOOK at the map, there are a couple places where it gets a bit confusing. Signs/markers are in disrepair, rubber mat t-pads generally clear of debris, course has suffered a few flooding/ desert washout events -- 9th basket is almost buried with wash debris (earth in motion, geology lesson learning moment). Terrific use of cottonwoods to make for devilishly tough shots to basket. The paradox/irony of dirt-bag D/G next to a schwanky resort is still keeping me giggling, but be thankful that the resort put in the course, and allows the common man access. Pick up anything you find, pack out your own, and keep looking up at those cliffs!!!! It is SO pretty !!!

Weeds, cheatgrass, etc are a pain in the hiking socks! As always in the arid west, good leather ankle high foot gear is a must.

Camping: I had a challenge going down-river, along the road that borders the course. Seemed POSTED, no trespass... I recommend, instead, getting back on the paved Highway, heading SOUTH past the resort, and taking a right just past resort to BLM federal land , not too far up off the highway, on Joe Brown Canyon road. The moment you cross onto public land, you can camp... BLM/National Forest:... be respectful, these are OUR lands: respect!! Great camping in a jaw-dropping area. Pack it OUT, don't trash it, clean camping ethics, for your grand-kids sake...
