Decent Beginners Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 29, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

+ Firestine Park is set in a small neighborhood park with scattered trees spread about. Might see a few sketchy characters, but it's really not a bad park.

+ Open and flat, pretty good spot to learn the game and pick up basic skills.

+ The tee pads are short, but are pretty high quality. Brick surrounded by concrete.

+ Water comes into play on a couple holes, but nothing that you'd worry too much about.

+ Could develop into a more challenging 9 as smaller trees grow older.

Cons:

- Most baskets are rusted and crooked. Putting is a little more difficult due to the slanted baskets.

- Short and open, no real challenge for anyone other than pure recreational players or beginners.

- Tee signs are pretty faded. Tee pads themselves are extremely short, so you have to start your run up in the grass.

Other Thoughts:

Firestine's course is a little run down, but isn't a bad place to practice. Should develop as trees grow, but that's only if the baskets last until then.

Trees Please 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 26, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

~Quaint park in a quiet neighborhood location
~Concrete & paver tee pads
~Baskets are in good condition
~Easy navigation & flow for a quick round or two

Cons:

~Flat and wide open, many of the trees in the photos are no longer there
~Most holes are short, leave drivers in the car
~Tee pads could be a couple feet longer
~Primarily straight, short, open holes

Other Thoughts:

Played a morning round the day after Thanksgiving, and it served as a nice warm-up for my next destination. Unfortunately the course doesn't present any type of challenge. It appears many trees have been removed and most holes are now wide open and require only a putter or mid from the tee pad to get close. There is a sizable river that comes into play on the last few holes, but only for really errant throws. The park is well maintained and the tee pads are really cool. This would make for a nice neighborhood course for pitching and putting, but doesn't offer much else. Safety issues could arise during the summer if the park is busy due to proximity of fairways and the playground / parking lot area.
