Great Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 19, 2021 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Shorter holes and open fairways are very good for beginners to get a hang of the game but the course is also fun for experienced players as there are a bunch of birdie chances and a few hole in one chances. Short course really emphasizes distance putting. Also loops back on itself so once you get there if there is a line you can start on the back 9. Good mix of uphill and downhill holes.

Cons:

Near NC State campus so in the afternoons and on the weekends there can be long lines. Sometimes you wish they could have a few holes with longer drives so you can pull out the driver and let it rip.

Fun but busy 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 22, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is a super fun course. It's fairly short, but has some major uphill and downhill holes that can be challenging. There are plenty of trees, but not so many that any holes are impossible to play without hitting one.

Cons:

Concrete tee boxes are a little small. It does get crowded and the holes are right on top of each other, so stay alert.

Deserves a better rating than it gets 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 4, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Friendly to everyone, not just advanced players. Lots of birdie opportunities. One easy way to tell how good a course is - it's busy all the time!

Cons:

A couple of fairways cross each other and it gets crowded a lot. Have to keep your head on a swivel!

Other Thoughts:

The area needs more courses like Kentwood to encourage casual, younger and older players.

Local legend 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 4, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

18 holes, well laid out and with great use of the terrain. There is a front and back 9 both accessible from the parking lot so you can start on either half of the course if it's busy. This isn't a long course but it's really fun and great for a quick round.

Cons:

Can get busy. Also can get pretty muddy if it's been raining out. Watch out for the water hazard along the left side of hole #2 especially if it's been raining.

Other Thoughts:

The tee for hole #1 is along the parking lot on the sidewalk to the playground. Look for the stone with the hole info on it and a painted line on the sidewalk. Hole #10 is just past the playground in the middle of the open area in the front of the park - you won't easily find it from hole #9.

The Beautiful Game 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 30, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Plenty of ace opportunities, even more birdie opportunities. Offers true variety from open holes to dense woods, hilly terrain to water hazards. Generally quick play time and very easy to get to. There's incredible scenic beauty here, particularly in the woods and even more so in Autumn. Bathrooms on-site along with open-walled shelter for four picnic tables. Plenty of parking available.

Cons:

Tends to be busy but crowds can be avoided weekday mornings. Some holes criss-cross so keep your head up. Lacking in the directional category but once you've played through, it's an easy to understand layout.

Other Thoughts:

I created a map with detailed hole-by-hole review on google maps for this course:

Enjoyment. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 1, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

If you are looking to get a great score there is no better place to be. Not to say it is easy because there are some difficult holes but it is for the most part short and pretty open. A couple holes dip into the forest and get tough but the hillside covered with holes is just scattered trees.

Cons:

It is rocky and will give your discs a scratch or two. The tee off's are concrete but dont give too much space and I often found myself off the front of them by the end of my drive. Crossing fairways may cause some delay but there is only one real problem there. It is busy almost anytime you cant really avoid it, but everyone played at a pretty good pace so you didnt have to wait too much.

Other Thoughts:

It is a good course to put up good scores. I had a lot of fun playing here and it can be nice to play with lots of people around. There is much more commotion than at your average DG Course. Definitely worth a try.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 8, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a easier course than most. It seems to be set up like a "par 3" real golf course would be. This is a great start for beginners, due to the many birdie opportunities.

Cons:

There are no many signs or arrows directing this course. If you have never played the course you might want to follow the people playing ahead of you to know what hole is next. Also there are ALWAYS people out on Kent no matter what the time of day, so don't be scared to start on a hole and just finish where back there.

Other Thoughts:

The pictures that are on here as of today are not very accurate. I go to Kent almost everyday (being i live so close) and there have been alot of changes made due to nature growing up in places, sidewalk being built, and new playground area (pushed back i think).
