Average Ain't That Bad! 2+ years

Pros:

Lamar Park DGC is not so little 9 holer that plays around the big baseball field in a counter clockwise direction. The course is lacking in excitement but never the less, it's a decent round. The course does have OK sized concrete pads. For our Spanish speaking disc golfers, the rules of disc golf are printed on the rules sign in both English and Spanish. Gees, I have enough trouble understanding them in English. I'll never figure them out in Spanish. I'll have to get a English/Spanish dictionary to keep in my bag. The tee signs show the distance and the Par, which is rare here in Michigan. The baskets are older Discatchers with the yellow band.

The course does have a water carry hole, # 4. It's not a chore for most players. The water on the left side on hole # 9 is more of a issue. The # 4 basket is fairly close to the baseball field's centerfield fence. There is a sign on the fence saying that if your disc lands in the ballfields, you are to contact the manager of the facility or some big shot beauricrat of some kind. Sounds like a pain to me.# 7 is a 459' hole which skirts around the OF fence. Number 9 plays 371' but with water on the left. Don't hyser too much here.

Cons:

Geese and their droppings. It's everywhere and that shit is disgusting. Why are we letting geese ruin the park for everyone. Who is the dominant species on this planet?

The course lacks a certain entertainment value.

Could be a problem with crowds on holes 1 & 2.

Other Thoughts:

This is another of those standard issue city park 9 holers. They aren't that sexy but they serve their purpose. That is, they provide a place for players who don't want to tackle the bigger, longer 18's. Some players know heir limitations and old Lamar fits them perfectly. It wouldn't be a horrible place for newbies as long as they skip # 4 and tread carefully around # 9 . If I lived near, you'd see me on this course.

Lamar park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 20, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Short good for beginners
-Concrete tee pads
-Water makes your feel good when make it over but water doesn't really come into play until #9
-Nice cages
-Nice people

Cons:

-Goose poop EVERYWHERE
-Only 9 holes
-Lots of beginners so play might be slow
-super short except 7

Other Thoughts:

Easily could make 9 or even 18 more holes at this park. Watch out for geese and other birds. If you play this course the hole number is on the left of the tee pad and the par is on the right.

Nothing special... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 6, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

+ SHORT COURSE: 9 holes are good for when I want to throw a quick round.

+ PRACTICE MIDRANGE: Hole 7 is the only long shot. The all the others I throw a Buzz (midrange driver).

+ LOW TRAFFIC: Occasionally will have to wait for a group of kids, but typically not overly crowded.

Cons:

- CRAP: wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty, there is goose crap all over Lamar.

- NOT CHALLENGING: As previously noted, this is a practice course at best. Doubt there will never be talk of tourneys here. Hole 9 has a pond, that is the only challenge.

- FORE!: Hole 3 often has people eating on the benches that lay just right on the line between the tee and the hole.

Other Thoughts:

* LAYOUT: Hole 5 is difficult to see the pin. Its located past the pond to the right. The first time or two, I threw to pin 6 from tee 5... butt u b more smarter then me and will figure it out. ;D

weak 2+ years

Pros:

Beautiful Park--Lamar park is really a beautiful park with baseball fields, tennis courts, splash pads and a LOT of ammenities.

Risk/Reward--Kind of nice to have a little risk/reward where the risk isn't too high.

Flow--flows well, no real chance at getting lost.

Tee Pads--Large clean pads, marked with hole number and par.

Cons:

Flow--no tee signs, just pads with numbers on them.

9 Holes--There is so much room at this park for 18 holes. City of Wyoming just needs to nut up and do it.

Water--water is almost too easy to get over on the first couple water holes and a bear to avoid on the last, ask Sgamerp...

Hole 7--seems out of place, it's hugely long and open on a short course and there's no good way to get into the baseball field on the left if you lose a disc.

Busy park--lots of waiting for unwary people to move out of the way to throw.

Other Thoughts:

There is so much room for improvement here. I was disappointed, the park is beautiful.

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 13, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

-open fairways
-real nice well manicured park
-good baskets
-some water in play to make it fun
-pretty decent layout for a little 9 hole park

Cons:

-super crowded in the summer, and people tend to hang out in the fairways of holes 1-3 picnicing.
-only 9 holes

Other Thoughts:

A great small park, ive had lots of fun here, got a buddy who lives right across from the park so weve been over there tons of times, its got a couple real nice long shots too to get out the guns!!

Great for beginners like me 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 22, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The coarse features an even terrain, no ups and downs. The tees are cement and seem to be well maintained. The distances are not far except for on hole #7 so for those just learning how to throw the disc, like me, that can't get the distance drives yet, this leaves you feeling good about a well played game.

Cons:

Lots of people at times. Especially around the first 3 holes. The water hazard on hole 3 is a nasty channel connecting 2 of the ponds. If you lose a disc in there, its not really worth going after.

Outstanding city park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 31, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Well marked teepads
- Laid out logically, circles you through the park
- Nicely groomed, always mowed with little trash
- Water hazards on four holes add challenge and reward risk
- Restroom not far from the course

Cons:

- It's a popular multi-use park so you occasionally have to avoid picnics, volleyball nets, and a random fisherman or two.
- Baseball fields can quickly come into play on two holes, especially on the long #7
- Wind is usually an issue due to few trees in the area
- Little to no elevation changes

Other Thoughts:

I play this course a couple of times each week. It's a nice beginner course that manages to still offer a challenge to more advanced players. Hole #9 is the best hole on the course; it's a dogleg left with a pond on one side and a thick row of trees on the other. This course is a nice alternative if Brewer or Riverside are too busy for your taste.

Updated 5/27/2010:
The tree next to the pond on hole #9 was recently cut down. This takes all the challenge out of the hole and turns it into a relatively easy birdie opportunity. For this reason alone, I'm reducing my rating from a 3 to a 2.5.
